Getting ready for your next trip? This is the ultimate list of travel essentials for women that you’ll be glad you packed for short weekend trips or longer vacations!
Tis the season. From work trips to a road trip to a vacation that starts with a long flight it’s hard to know what you’ll need and what to leave at home. After countless work trips lately, I’ve narrowed down a packing list of travel essentials that I bring on every single trip.
Whether you are headed to Disneyland or Seattle or out of the country…….this will help you plan for everything you need.
travel essentials for women
Let’s divide our needs up into sections of the trip. We’ll talk about items needed for flights or a long trip in the car first. After that we’ll talk items we need for any trip itself.
the right travel essentials : luggage and bags
Nothing makes or breaks a travel day like the right bags and suitcases. Whether you are looking for a carry-on bag for a quick business trip or a larger suitcase for a longer trip to a foreign country there are great options for what to pack your travel essentials for women IN.
The Beis Weekender Water Repellent Tote Bag : This weekender bag is a more recent purchase for me that has seriously changed the travel game for me.
It is a great option for short trips (I used it for a trip to san francisco that literally consisted of 2 travel days with no full days in my destination). It’s just big enough to fit a change of clothes, a pair of comfortable walking shoes , a toiletry bag and some comfortable pajamas. I love that it has a bottom compartment that zips easily and can fit a pair of shoes or two along with my favorite hair dryer and hair styling tool. This is worth EVERY penny.
Beis The 29-Inch Check-In Roller : When it comes to most trips, I’m a check in girl. One of my most important travel essentials for women is a great suitcase that fits all my items. I love the Beis 29 inch suitcase, trust me when I say it is big enough for everything on your travel essentials list (and more). I use a suitcase protector to keep the scratches away and it’s survived perfectly.

Packing Cubes : Trust me when I say, packing cubes will absolutely change your travel life. I vastly underestimated what an important part of my travel essentials for women list packing cubes would be until I started using them on every trip. Instead of folding clothes, I roll them and use packing cubes to store everything. For especially easy access I pack outfits by day or part of trip.
Hanging Toiletries Bag : If you are going on a shorter trip (like the one I recently took to disney world )….you may not want to unpack all your hair ties and first aid kit and lip balm and bathroom essentials. I usually bring a hanging bag with all beauty products already organized so I can just hang it from one of the towel hooks in a hotel room bathroom and access my items with ease.
Jewelry Organizer: If you travel with earrings, necklaces, bracelets or other jewelry then I highly suggest packing a jewelry organizer to keep everything ready to wear. It is the easiest way to guarantee nothing will get tangled or lost.
A few other items I suggest packing: a folded up duffel bag in case you need an extra checkable bag for souvenirs or dirty clothes along with a travel pillow that you can tie to your suitcase along with an eye mask if you plan to sleep on the plane.
women’s travel essentials : electronics and technology
Now let’s talk technology and some of the most important travel essentials for women . There are a number of tech travel necessities that will make travel easy and more enjoyable. These are items I do not travel without and I promise you’ll thank you if you do the same.
kindle : As much as I love to bring an actual book on vacation, they can be heavy and take up way too much space in a suitcase. A kindle is a great way to bring all your favorite beach reads along on a warm weather vacation or a winter trip to the snow. I also love that you can always order more books for immediate access if you finish your current reads while away.
airpods or headphones : from the airplane to sitting in a coffee shop…..you’ll be thankful that you brought headphones of some type. I strongly suggest noise cancelling headphones for loud travel situations. I’ve used both airpods and beatz and have found both to be perfect for travel days. They’re comfortable, effective and hold a good charge.
portable charger : A power bank for your cell phone is an absolutely essential item for any long-haul flight or road trip. To be honest, I travel with at least three. Airports don’t always have quick access to wall plugs and you want to be sure you can charge your cell phone as needed during long days of travel.
camera : If you are sightseeing or want to document memories with something beyond your phone camera, I suggest getting a small mirrorless camera for travel situations. As much as I love my larger, dslr camera….it’s definitely heavy for travel.
travel essentials for women : to wear
Regardless of destination, there are certain items you’ll want to wear or carry on any vacation.
comfortable walking shoes : on every single trip….you’ll be glad you have a pair of shoes that are comfortable. That means, broken in and supportive. My favorite choice? My Rothy’s sneakers. I can guarantee that regardless of plans, you’ll end up using your comfortable shoes (at the very least on your travel day).
collapsible water bottle : Did you know that ideally you should drink 8 ounces of water for every hour you are in the air on a plane? Most airports do have a water bottle filling station, so try bringing a collapsible water bottle and filling it once you are through airport security to save a little money.
cross body sling bag : when traveling, having a wearable bag is usually a good idea. I use my favorite cross body sling bag to keep travel documents and other important documents along with credit cards and ID plus medications that I want to keep at hand.
cheap sunglasses : as much as I love my higher end sunglasses, I usually travel with a bargain pair. I don’t worry about losing them or accidentally scratching them during a travel day. These? Some of my current favs!
no show socks : socks tend to be the one thing I ALWAYS forget to pack. So now? I keep an extra pair in my carry on bag. My personal favorites? Bombas socks. Always.
travel essentials for women : beauty items and medicine
These are the must have beauty items and medicines that I ALWAYS travel with.
sunscreen : Regardless of climate or season, sunscreen is a necessity. I usually pack a stick sunscreen because it’s easy to apply on it’s own.
aloe vera gel : As a VERY easily sunburned person, I apply aloe vera gel every night after sun exposure. I’ve found it helps to soothe my skin especially if I’m on a beach vacation.
advil : A headache on vacation is WAY worse than a headache at home. I travel with a full bottle of ibuprofen or advil just in case.
gas and bloating relief : Travel means you’re eating foods that aren’t your norm, which can mean gas or bloating (air travel can also cause this). This all natural gas and bloating supplement helps me a TON.
gentle bowel movement : If you get constipated while you travel or when switching time zones, this gentle bowel movement supplement helps a TON. I take it each evening while traveling and it keeps everything regular.
digestive enzymes : if you struggle with reactions to gluten or dairy, I suggest taking this with meals while traveling just in case.
allergy medication : on my last trip, I had the WORST allergies. I’ve never been so glad to have packed my over the counter allergy medication.
eye drops : Flying and travel can dry out your eyes, so I usually travel with eye drops for long travel days.
period products or menstrual cup : regardless of your usual cycle timing, if you are a person with a menstrual cycle I suggest traveling with products that you use. Travel and time changes can effect cycle. So best to be prepared.
