Planning a vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth? Then you'll need a great hotel.  We've explored TONS of hotels close to Disneyland…..and have our favorites for a variety of reasons.  From hotels that are on property to hotels that are walking distance to luxury resort properties close to the beach and driving distance……there are a lot of GREAT options for your Disneyland vacations!

Hotels Near Disneyland On Property Hotels:

Getting ready for a trip to Disneyland? These are all of our favorite hotels close to Disneyland!

If you're looking for the ultimate Disney magic experience….there is NOTHING like an on property hotel.  Disneyland has three, and they're all uniquely special.  Each one has it's own version of Disneyland Character Dining (we've done EVERY character dining at Disneyland and have a full guide to those options HERE) and they offer so many experiences that add to amazing days at the parks.

The Grand Californian: Looking for a high end experience? There is NOTHING like the Grand Californian.  It's upscale, with beautiful rooms and a fancy spa.  The pool area is LOVELY (they also rent cabanas and for the record getting one is on my bucket list), and the most amazing part about the Grand Californian in my opinion? If you're looking for hotels close to Disneyland….this is as close as it gets.  The Grand Californian has an entrance DIRECTLY into Disney California Adventure.  When we stayed there? It was AMAZING, hotel guests do get that earlier access to the park….so imagine walking RIGHT in….an hour before everyone else.  Rides? Photos? A stroll with few other guests around? You can do it all.

Highlights: Luxury Hotel / Direct Access to Park / Great Pool Area / Magic Morning

Disneyland Hotel: If you're looking for the CLASSIC Disney Magic experience…..there is nothing like the Disneyland Hotel.  Every corner is filled with pixie dust (and if I'm being honest….it's my favorite of all three on property hotels).  Each of the towers is themed to a different land from the Park (you can check out the displays on the bottom floor of each tower to see some cool Disney history).  And the rooms? The beds have a light up mural that is SO special!  The pool is amazing (there's even a monorail waterslide), and the Disneyland Hotel has Goofy's Kitchen which is the PERFECT character dining dinner option.  In terms of park access, you'll walk through Downtown Disney to the front gates.

Highlights: Pool with Monorail Waterslide / Direct Access to Downtown Disney / Disneyland Themed / Magic Morning

Paradise Pier Hotel:  When it comes to the most budget friendly on property option for Disneyland? The Paradise Pier Hotel is your best bet! It's an easy walk through Downtown Disney to the gates, has a pool and one of my favorite character breakfasts.  It's a great family friendly option and the theming is ADORABLE!

Hotels Close to Disneyland Walking Distance:

If you are looking for easy access to Disneyland without staying on property…..these hotels are a GREAT option.  In a contrast to Disneyworld Hotels…….Disneyland has fewer on property options, and it's pretty common to stay walking distance from the parks.  We usually walk to and from multiple times a day with ease from these locations.  These are perfect if you have napping kids or if you'd like to take a midday break!

Howard Johnson Anaheim: If you follow us on Instagram, then you know that the Howard Johnson Anaheim is our go to when it comes to hotels close to Disneyland.  It's family friendly, affordable, CLEAN and a VERY easy walk to the park.  One of my favorite parts? The pirate themed waterpark (there is also a regular pool).  It's the perfect place to take a break from Disneyland days and to relax during the warmer months.

A few details regarding the rooms…….and preparing for a trip.  Each room has a keurig (and there are k cups, milk and sugar for sale in the store on property).  We usually bring our own k cups from home, then just purchase what we need)….because let's be honest, we all need that first cup of coffee before getting our Disneyland outfits on and starting a day at the park.  There is also a small fridge (perfect for leftovers from your Disneyland Character Breakfasts), and a large closet in each room.

Highlights: Water Park / Family Suites / ten minute walk from Disneyland entrance /

On the hunt for the best hotels close to Disneyland? These are recommendations from a local!
Hilton Anaheim: We stayed at the Hilton Anaheim near the Convention Center for our FIRST Disneyland trip (look how little Lydia was!).  It's a GREAT location, about a 20 minute walk to the gates and has a TON of amenities.  Most suites have full kitchens, there is a grab and go breakfast option, a pool and spacious rooms.  If you're traveling with a larger party and would like to be able to use a kitchen, then this is a GREAT option!

Highlights: full kitchen / grab and go breakfast / pool / close to the Toy Story Lot so you can use the shuttle

Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort: Looking to stay as close as possible to the park? This is my recommendation.  The Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort is directly across from the gates.  It's a great option for VERY easy walks to the park.  They've got a ton of dining options that make a stay really easy.  Inside the hotel is a Pizza Hut, a Seattle's Best Coffee (perfect for that early morning coffee run) and a small market.  There is also a Panera across the parking lot.  They have theme rooms (that's what you see in our photo) and some great suites for more space!

Highlights: on site food options / pool / VERY short walk to the Park /

Radisson BLU Anaheim: This hotel is where we stayed for Disneyland's reopening, it's new to the area and is absolutely AMAZING.  If you're looking for more of a high end experience…..Radisson Blu is a great option.  This resort has two pools, a rooftop Skybar, great dining options and rooms with bunk beds for larger families.

Highlights: on site food options / pools / medium walk to the Park (15-20 minutes) /

Hotels Close to Disneyland Driving Distance:

If you're looking for a Southern California Vacation that involves Disneyland but also does resort time or beach days…..there are some great resorts a SHORT drive from Disneyland that can also be a vacation on their own.  These are perfect for easy Disneyland access, along with beach days and exploring the rest of Orange County.

If you're looking for hotels close to Disneyland, this list from a local is AMAZING!

Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa: We stayed at the Hyatt in Huntington Beach in October and OH MY GOSH it's a stunning property.  If you are looking for a luxurious vacation, it's PERFECTION.  The grounds are STUNNING, they have a great pool area with a waterslide, fire pits for s'mores, multiple restaurants on property, and the beach? Is directly connected to the property.  The property is 22 miles from Disneyland and they also have a shuttle from the resort to the park!

Hyatt Regency Orange County: We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in the fall while my daughter was still doing distance learning.  The suite we stayed in was IDEAL for space and larger families.  Our suite had a living room area, bunk beds for kids and a large bedroom.  The resort has a pool area, shuffleboard, dining options on property, and is less than a five minute drive from Disneyland (1.4 miles to be exact).

This is great! I grew up on the East Coast and have been to Disneyworld a few times, but not Disneyland! Since we live so close now, I am hoping to make a trip there soon!

Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled muscle? I should have known better. When training for my race, I didn’t stretch or warm up enough most days and….here we are.Lesson learned. I’m 4 weeks post race (do not recommend running a 10k on a pulled muscle) and I’m……almost better. I’m learning to stretch and walk and to take better care of myself so that I can start running again REALLY soon (we’re almost there I think). For now? I’m doing recovery walks and trying to strengthen my leg. And trying to make sure I get enough protein. When I talked about Built Bars on my stories, a LOTTTTT of you raced about their Puffs. Yup, I get it. They’re AMAZING. I’ve been bringing them along on my walks (and gluten free friends….they have some great options for us).Have you ever pulled a muscle? What was recovery like for you?#youGOTTAtrythis #BUILTProtein #BUILT #BUILTbar partner
💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zo 💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zoo (and swipe to the end for a close up)⠀⠀🌴Coming to San Diego for Spring Break or a Summer Vacation?⠀⠀📍Let’s talk San Diego Zoo (and yes, I got off a plane yesterday, picked up Lydia and we spent the afternoon at the zoo…..it was LOVELY).⠀⠀A few things to help you plan visits to San Diego and the Zoo:⠀1️⃣ the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are NOT close together. The Zoo is close to downtown, the Safari Park is about 25 miles north. I’d suggest one day at each. They’re totally unique and both worth a visit. The Safari Park is smaller, but has REALLY unique exhibits (Walkabout Australia is my favorite).⠀2️⃣ both have some really fun and unique dining experiences that you can reserve in advance: Albert’s at the Zoo is a FANCY and fun sit down option, and The Watering Hole at Kijamii Overlook at the Safari Park is great for happy hour or a fun lunch ⠀3️⃣ there are great kids play areas at both locations, the Wildlife Explorers Base Camp area at the San Diego Zoo is brand new and absolutely amazing⠀⠀✨ Now, a bonus tip. Undercover Tourist now has NATIONWIDE savings on over 500 attractions in 50 cities and up to 25% on tickets for theme parks, zoo, museums, aquariums, city tours, water parks, and movie tickets. And the deals they have for San Diego? AMAZING (I’m sharing details in my stories).⠀⠀@themeparkfrog #UncoverSavingsNationwide #ad
In high school, I wasn’t supposed to cross the b In high school, I wasn’t supposed to cross the bridge without permission.⠀⠀I grew up about 20 minutes from San Francisco, on the OTHER side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Yes, you know that opening scene in Full House where they’re driving across the bridge? I was on the other side of that. And one of MOST parents’ rules where I grew up? No going into the city without permission. Sorry mom and dad, it’s been long enough…..now I can disclose that we broke that rule constantly.⠀⠀San Francisco is my favorite city. It’s intimate and moody and filled with history and some of the best food in the world. It reminds me of childhood trips to the zoo and Golden Gate Park, it reminds me of my first apartment after college and my first serious relationship. It reminds me of 22 year old carefree nights with friends and milkshakes at Mels in high school and coffee in North Beach and nights in the Marin Headlands (the closest we were supposed to get to the bridge).⠀⠀So when I had the opportunity to spend 20 hours in my city by the Bay? I took it.⠀⠀Photo Diary:⠀1) nothing like a hotel room to yourself ⠀2) basically drove through a monsoon in San Diego yesterday to make it to the airport⠀3) through the fog? You can see the Golden Gate Bridge⠀4) SFO ⠀5) drove right through North Beach where my mom lived until she was 2, and texted her this photo of a church where she remembers going to weddings as a child⠀6) dinner with Dove, talking about the importance of diversity and representation in gaming avatars ⠀7 and 8) anyone else got a roblox fan in their house? Dove is changing the game (pun intended) and we love to see it.⠀⠀Have you been to San Francisco?
Are you a road trip or a fly in the sky vacationer Are you a road trip or a fly in the sky vacationer? What’s your ideal?⠀Figured this was a good day to ask since….I’m boarding a plane this morning for a VERY quick trip.⠀❤️Over on stories, we are playing this or that. We’re making this a regular little weekly coffee chat.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀☕️So, five of you will get a coffee on me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Want to join in?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀1) like this post⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀2) answer the polls in stories⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀3) tag a friend in comments, or tell me what your ideal vacation looks like, and how you’d get there!
