Looking for hotels around Disneyland? The Howard Johnson Anaheim is a GREAT family hotel option!
I guess you could call us Disneyland experts. From Disneyland Outfits to Lydia’s Disneyland Birthday, as Disneyland Annual Passholders we visit the Happiest Place on Earth multiple times a month. Now the truth is, we live JUST far enough away to make the drive a challenge (thank you Los Angeles traffic). It’s usually 90 minutes to two hours each direction. So one of our favorite things to do? Visit the Hotels Around Disneyland for a staycation. We’ve checked out a ton of them, and I wanted to share one of our favorites.
Hotels Around Disneyland: Howard Johnson Anaheim
If you are looking for an affordable, family friend option from the hotels around Disneyland…..the Howard Johnson Anaheim is a GREAT one. We’ve stayed at this amazing Anaheim hotel multiple times and after I got a LOT of questions about it, I decided it was time to write a review.
Distance to Disneyland
The truth is, if you’re visiting Disneyland, you want a hotel that is as close as possible. The Howard Johnson Anaheim is an EASY walk to the parks. For us? Walking five year old speed, it’s under ten minutes from hotel lobby to security entrance. You can definitely do it with younger children in a stroller, and it’s great to be able to return during the day if your family needs a break.
Amenities
The Howard Johnson offers a couple great amenities that make it extremely family friendly……my favorite? The Pirate Themed Water Park. This is SO MUCH MORE than a pool. The water activity area is the perfect place for kids to play during warm summer months, and to get a break away from the busy parks. It’s also perfect for a relaxing day if you don’t have park tickets or a half day upon checking in or checking out. They have splash pads for younger children and the coolest water structure for the older kids.
Room Options and Parking
Looking for family suites at one of the Hotels Around Disneyland? Howard Johnson has THE BEST. Their pirate family suites are perfect for larger groups. They have plenty of space (including bunk beds and a pull out couch) for multiple children along with a semi-private grown up area.
Even the regular rooms are HUGE. We’ve always stayed in a regular room with two beds, and had more than enough space. They include a large closet, big dresser, and a (thank goodness) Keurig machine equipped with coffee for early Disneyland mornings.
Dining Options
While the Howard Johnson Anaheim doesn’t have an on site dining option, there are great ones VERY close by. We love walking over to eat at Downtown Disney (it’s about a 15 minute to 20 minute stroll), or on nights we didn’t want to leave the hotel, we’ve used Postmates to get great food delivered directly to the hotel (there are some AWESOME pizza options).
