Planning a Descendants Family Halloween Costume? This one is EPIC!

Lydia is more than a little obsessed with the Descendants.  So when we told her that she could plan our family costume for this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash……her choice was no surprise to us.  We wore regular clothes during the day at Disney California Adventure and these Descendants Family Halloween Costume pieces? Were stored safely in a locker until the big reveal.

You know the back story right? If you’ve seen Descendants 3, then you know that Mal’s father was revealed.  And he’s the baddest villain on the Isle of the Lost…….Hades.  When we brainstormed those family Halloween Costumes, it made total sense to reunite the family.  Plus, once Robbie agreed to wear a blue wig, the deal was sealed.  It a bit of time to find perfect elements for each of our outfits…..but they really worked out and were a TON of fun to wear!

The verdict? Kids all over the Oogie Boogie Bash loved Lydia’s dress (isn’t it fun that she wore Mal’s ball gown instead of pants?) and knew that Robbie was Hades immediately.  We saw plenty of Mal costumes on kids (very few in this dress) and a lot of Maleficent moms, but I think Robbie was the only Hades.  So, total Descendants Family Halloween Costume success.  The pieces were comfortable enough to wear from 4 pm to 11 pm (no complaints from Lydia about itching or anything) and we’ll be wearing them again for Halloween trick or treating.  Plus, they didn’t break the bank.

The specifics? I got a lot of questions about where we found each item…..so wanted to include that in case you’d like to dress as your favorite villain family for Halloween this year.

Mal Costume: Lydia’s Mal costume was definitely the easiest to find (not a surprise since Descendants are so popular with kids her age this year).  Her dress was absolutely ADORABLE and she loved wearing it, and that purple wig? It seriously MADE the outfit.

Maleficent Costume: My costume was SO easy, comfortable and I loved wearing it.  I wore a fitted black dress that I already owned, added the amazing Maleficent horns from the Disney Parks (you can buy similar ones here) and these feather shrug pieces (they were my favorite part of the outfit).

Hades Costume: Robbie’s costume was the best one right?!? From the blue Hades wig to that shirt (isn’t is spot on?) it seriously made our family costume and wasn’t too “costumey”.  He got a ton of compliments and even said he’s willing to wear the whole outfit again.  Plus Lydia was SO excited about how he REALLY looked like Hades.
