Let’s talk practical details when it comes to bathing suits. From the best retailers to simple bathing suit care, these facts about how to buy swimsuits and care for your bathing suits will help you keep those them in tip top shape.
Where to buy bathing suits:
Looking for the best place to buy bathing suits? The good news is that a TON of retailers carry flattering bathing suits at a variety of price points. From bargain bathing suits to high end swim suits, there’s something for everyone and something that flatters every body type.
My personal favorite bathing suit stores?
If you’re looking for great places to try on bathing suits IN STORE…….there are a ton of great options. My personal favorites? Aerie bathing suits, Old Navy for great prices, Nordstrom and the one piece bathing suits Target carries are always a hit for me. From one pieces to two piece swimsuits, I’ve shopped in store at each of these locations for the perfect bathing suit.
When to buy a bathing suit:
When are bathing suits in stores? Bathing suits are available in some stores year round, but starting in March…..you’ll see a much bigger variety (thanks to Spring Break). From March to September, most major stores will have a huge selection.
When are bathing suits on sale? You don’t necessarily need to wait until the end of summer to get swimsuits on sale. Most retailers have short sales before big summer holidays (when you would want a new bathing suit). Check a week before Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor day for great suit sales.
The Best Bathing Suit Brands:
The best bathing suit brands? That’s based on opinion, but I definitely have mine.
The best one piece bathing suits Target carries are from their new Kona Sol line. It’s flattering, on trend, and a KILLER price point.
Aerie Bathing Suits are another favorite of mine. They’re a killer price, always have really fun vibrant colors, and are flattering on curvy bodies.
How to Wash Swimsuits:
I’m asked a ton of questions about swimsuit care. Can bathing suits go in the washer? Yes, on delicate only and with cold water. I do handwash some that have embellishments so that they aren’t damaged. Can bathing suits go in the dryer? NO WAY! They’ll shrink for SURE. I always hang dry my suits (pro tip, hang them in the shower so they don’t drip all over your floor or hotel room if you’re on vacation).
What bathing suit is best for my body type?
Looking for bathing suits that flatter your body type?
If you’re searching for what bathing suit is best for pear shaped body, a few tips to keep in mind:
- you want to draw the eyes towards your narrow upper body….a great neckline, a brighter or lighter color on top, and embellishments will do this perfectly
- find pieces that fit well and flatter your curves, you want to accentuate that small waist and midsection instead of hiding your body
- try different fabrics and patterns to see what feels best to you, I’m a fan of bright colors and stripes…..but you may like something different with your skin tone
