Seeing a rainy day on the doppler? Classic hunter boots to the rescue! Let me tell you, I’ve owned the same red hunter boots for a LONG time (in fact, the teeny tiny baby in these pictures is now EIGHT years old and yes, this same pair of boots is still going strong). I love the bright colors that add a little sunshine to a basic winter outfit and the quality of these boots just can’t be beat. From music festivals filled with mud to the occasional April showers….these boots have made it through many a weather condition in style!
I know, I know. Rain boots in Southern California? But, it DOES rain here…..and a few years back I couldn’t resist getting some adorable pictures of Lydia splashing around in the puddles!
So cute, right? Now that the weather has cooled down….we’re actually expecting a fairly stormy winter AGAIN….so I know we’ll be getting a ton of use out of our matching rain boots (yes they also come in children’s shoes sizes and are favorites in our household)!
How to Wear Hunter Boots: Ideas and Tips for Outfits with Hunter Boots
- What Pants to Wear: You don’t HAVE to wear leggings with your Original Hunter Boots (although they are warm and comfy). You can also do skinny jeans or even white jeans (yes, we’re still wearing them around here) tucked into the boots, tights and a dress or skirt, or even cords. I would suggest that you don’t do bare legs….pants or a boot sock are best. TRUST ME, these boots will get stuck on your legs otherwise especially if you have wide calves.
- What if You Want a Fancier Winter Outfit? You can always do a classic black faux leather legging, a great blouse and a longer black coat or trench coat. Add fun jewelry and you’ll look a little more dressy!
- Want a hip, casual look? Try skinny jeans (dark denim), a great white tee and fun leather jackets or suede moto jacket options (just be sure they’re treated for wet weather).
- For colder days like the one when these pictures were taken? Layers, layers, layers. We did blue jeans, simple plaid tops and I added a vest for that extra layer of warmth. And yup, eight years later I dress exactly the same on rainy days.
If you’re shopping for your first pair of Hunter rain boots? There are tons of colors to choose from. You can do matte finish or the classic shiny options. You can do tall rain boots that go to the knee, a classic original boot that hits mid-shin, or a lower ankle boot. There are narrow or wider options for larger calves. Basically, you can get EXACTLY what you want and what you’ll get the most use out of.

So cute with the matching glossy red Hunter boots! I have one pair of Hunter boots (so far), a matte navy with pink trim in the adjustable back, and have been salivating over the red glossy finish. If only they made the adjustable back version of the tall rain boot in red gloss!
