Thank you to Minted for collaborating on this post.how-to-take-great-family-photos-casual2Holiday card season is in FULL swing.  We work with a couple of photographers…..and everyone of them is booked solid with family photo shoots.  And they all keep saying the same thing…..families don’t know what to wear or where to take fun and original family photos! Enter, our what to wear in family photos series. (added bonus that y’all get to see my husband making guest appearances every now and again).

This shoot? It’s the one that I feel like our real life friends will recognize…..our everyday, casual wear.  I know that a lot of families get super dressed up for family photos.  My suggestion? Why not shoot pictures that actually look like you? My husband wears converse every single day.  He even wore them to our wedding.  And when Lydia saw her shoes from Rack Room Shoes for these pictures? She screamed “matching daddyyyyyyy!” at the top of her lungs.

My favorite family pictures are simple, coordinated, and timeless.  You’ll never go wrong with jeans and classic sneakers.  A fun twist? We wore neutral colors, and shot against a brightly colored wall!
