I’m super excited to be back with another post in our What to Wear in Family Photos series! Now that family photo season is in full swing, we’ll be sharing a few of our favorite family photo inspirations…..so that you can plan for your family pictures. These? Totally different than what we normally do! How often do you see dirt roads and cowboy boots around these parts? I’m a total country nerd, it’s pretty much the only music I listen to. So when hubby and I brainstormed a huge list of family picture ideas…..I was sure we wanted to try dirt roads and plaid. I mean, who doesn’t love a toddler in cowboy boots?
One thing to think about when setting up family photos? Time of day and location. These pictures look totally different than our usual style because we shot at sunset. See that pretty glowing light? It starts about 45 minutes before sunset. When we shot in the morning? Crisp and bright. And this location? A total contrast to the urban backgrounds we normally shot in. A lot of this is a matter of opinion and personal style. My only suggestion? Please don’t just shoot on a lawn somewhere. Those pictures don’t have much personality! Think about your family. Do you live in a big city? Shoot in front of gritty walls. Are you backroads and bonfires? Dirt roads and cotton fields. Live on the coast? Shoot in front of that ocean everyone is so jealous of! Playful? An amusement park makes a great background!

I always look for inspiration online for what to wear for family photos. I really like the blue. Beautiful family.
We just had family photos taken and we went with blue, brown and boots. Didn’t want to buy much and it worked perfectly with the woods and trees.

I just love the pics in your photo shoot. My son and family always do a special photo shoot before he is deployed.
We have not done a full family photo in a long time. We did them when our kids were young but haven’t for the last few years. You’ve motivated me to get back on that bandwagon.
