I’m a little too excited about this new series. We work with professional photographers to take some of my blog pictures, and this was inspired by a conversation with one of them. She mentioned that families often email her before portrait sessions asking what to wear in family photos. And selfishly? I feel like y’all have seen a million pictures of Lydia and myself (I know, the mommy and me style pictures are pretty cute)….but you’ve seen barely any of us as an entire family.
So, once or twice a month…..we’ll be sharing inspiration for what to wear in family photos. Casual, formal, holiday…..we’re gonna do it all! If you want inspiration for a specific look or location…..comment below or email me, I’d love to hear what you’re looking for!So, I’m excited to share our first family photo session. After last year’s holiday photos (where hubby hated his outfit)…..I’ve learned the hard way. We picked our outfits for this nautical look together. Don’t you love the striped, nautical look? It’s casual, timeless, and the colors look GREAT on film. One thing we’ve learned…..when planning what to wear in family photos…..lie all your outfits together beforehand. There should be a common thread. A red shirt would have stuck out like a sore thumb in these photos. Our blue pieces from Vineyard Vines were perfect together, and I love that Robbie’s shades of blue are complimentary without being perfectly matching. (Couldn’t you just DIE over Lydia’s little dress?) Our matching striped watches from Daniel Wellington are a great accessory, and I love that they have removable straps…..we also have matching brown leather straps for other family pictures.
And last but not least……how much do you LOVE my gold braided necklace? Amrita Singh makes stunning statement pieces that add just the right touch of bling to any family photo session. This gold braided piece reminded me of nautical rope…..and I love how it completed my nautical outfit. I’ll actually be wearing it in a ton of photos, because it’s so versatile. Since I couldn’t stop obsessing over it, I convinced the team at Amrita Singh to give a matching necklace to one of you……just in time for you to start planning what to wear in your own family photos!
