The Best Bathing Suits for a Pear Shaped Body

Well, I did it.  I took pictures in my bathing suit, and I'm sharing some of the best bathing suits for a pear shaped body ……because, I'm sick of all of us hiding behind a cover up!Looking for a bathing suit for pear shaped body types? This guide will change your life (and your summer wardrobe)! Well you guys, I did it.  If you follow me on instagram, then you know I've been talking about this for awhile.  Here's the deal, before taking these pictures…..I'd worn a bathing suit TWICE since Lydia was born.  She's three and a half.  Why?  Because I felt uncomfortable in a bathing suit.  If we're being honest, I've pretty much ALWAYS felt uncomfortable in a bathing suit.  They don't leave a whole lot to the imagination.

So a couple months ago, I started talking to you guys about it.  About how I felt like I was missing out on the fun of the beach and the pool, about how I felt like I was sending my own daughter the wrong message, and about how I was treating myself poorly with these negative internal thoughts about how “bad I looked in a bathing suit.”  So honestly, this post is a little self serving.  I felt like I needed to step out of my comfort zone.  If I put pictures on the INTERNET in a bathing suit, I was pretty sure I could wear one to the pool.  I searched far and wide for a suit or type of suit that I felt great in.  And that helped a LOT!

The crazy thing about these pictures? After taking them I do feel more confident in a swim suit.  Like, a lot more comfortable.  I feel better about myself, and I realized…..no one ACTUALLY cares but me.  I'm writing this post in the midst of one of our longest family vacations….and guess what we've done a lot of? Pool days.  And guess who actually wore a bathing suit? This girl.  And I had a blast.  So my point ladies? Just do it.  Wear the bathing suit, drop the cover up, and jump into the pool.

A couple tips for picking out a suit that will make you feel your best:

  1. Think Balance: For more pear shapes, you want to draw attention UP.  A cute ruffle, off the shoulder styles, or suits that have detailing on top…..will do just that.
  2. Color, Color, Color: Don't hide, celebrate.  A great colored suit that flatters your skintone is WAY better than the darkest color to try to hide everything (don't get me wrong, I love a great black suit….but consider color too)!
  3. Smooth: Hiding your thighs isn't the answer.  A great fitting suit is.  Those skirted bathing suits? NOT flattering.  Instead look for a suit that fits your hips and thigh smoothly.

First of all, you shine with the color of that suit. I am partial to pink. Though the only suit I currently own hasn’t gotten much use in the past year as I moved out of the central coast to a different state this past year with seasonal weather and no beach. My suit is a black2 piece. I definately have a pear shape and have gained 20 lbs this year. Anyways, you look gorgeous!

i LOVE these suites! I have the same problem with my hips and thighs, however, i additionally have an extremely long torso, so a one-piece bathing suit does not work on me. Does anyone have any tankini suggestions for a pear-shaped body?

(teachers, you get it right?!?)I mean, HAD TO TAKE A PHOTO (or 20). This weekend was the start of Peanuts Celebration at Knott’s Berry Farm and we spent a day immersed in all things Snoopy. From the rides in Camp Snoopy to the adorable new shows to the ACTUAL PIGS in Pigpen’s Pig Pen there was so much to do…..I’m so glad that Knott’s invited us to check it all out! Now, who is YOUR favorite Peanuts character? Yesterday was filled with friends and food and fun and feet (sore ones after walking around from dawn to way past dusk)…….and as Lydia and I tucked ourselves into bed last night……I felt so much gratitude. Our happy place has brought so much joy into our lives and so many people that enrich each moment.⠀⠀✨The Disney 100 Celebration will be happening ALL YEAR, and I feel like we still have so much to see and do.⠀⠀💜Favorite Moments and Experiences from our day one of Disney 100:⠀🚂riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad: I avoided ALLLLLL spoilers (there are some in this carousel btw), and had seen NONE of the attraction until we stepped into the queue…. it was absolutely adorable and I can’t WAIT to ride it again, plus when we exited the ride…..some of the team that created it were at the exit and seeing their smiles? ABSOLUTE DISNEY MAGIC.⠀🌅seeing the sun rise over the castle bright and early⠀💕running into friends every 5 minutes, it felt like a giant reunion⠀👗characters in their costumes, not going to lie….we didn’t wait in lines for them….they were length, but we gave a wave as we walked by and they looked stunning⠀⠀✨When is your next Disney trip???

Sit on the back of the benches built into the moat entrance, you’ll be a bit elevated, it gives a great angle and a better view of the castle herself ⠀3️⃣if you REALLY want that walking into the castle shot…..this is something you can do during early entry time if you are staying on property ⠀⠀🧳Now, let’s talk Spring Break tips in collaboration with @themeparkfrog :⠀🚨This is IT. Red alert. If you’re hoping to visit the Happiest Place on Earth for Spring Break….BOOK IT NOW. Spring Break is around the corner, and the more you plan, the happier you’ll be (trust me).⠀⠀To do (in order):⠀1️⃣book your hotel, theme park tickets and rental car: for the best deal, you can do this as a bundle with Undercover Tourist (you’ll save a TON this way….I’m sharing more in stories)⠀2️⃣once you have your trip dates….book dining. At Disneyland you can book 60 days in advance (which means, NOW and coming up very soon for Spring Break).⠀3️⃣ If you want to do something special like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, you can ALSO book that 60 days in advance.⠀⠀✨So, are you ready?
