Are your children begging to see Cars 3? I’m sharing my toddler’s thoughts on the film, and my Cars 3 review as a mom!
Well, the school year is over and summer vacation is officially on. And want to know how we kicked it off? Like every Angeleno family? We went to the movies! Last week, we got to see an early screening of the Disney Pixar summer blockbuster Cars 3. I have to be honest, the Cars franchise hadn’t been a big hit in our house up until this point. Lydia is definitely more of a princess fan. Leading up to the screening, we decided to watch the first two movies…..and she FELL IN LOVE. She was so excited to see the newest film…..and even wanted to bring her Lightening McQueen toy along for the ride to the studio.
“My favorite part was when they raced. It was funny.”
“I love Lightening McQueen.”
Before seeing the film, I read rumors about a shift in the Cars franchise. I heard there was a girl power focus in Cars 3, along with the introduction of a couple new characters. What did I see? An adorable, kid friendly film with a plot that my toddler could follow and enjoy. A new main female character (Cruz Ramirez) who is strong, endearing, and courageous, and who may just take the Cars franchise in a great new direction. Would I like to see MORE of Cruz? Yes. She was a pivotal character, but she wasn’t the main focus of the film. However, I feel like this film set her up to do a LOT more. I loved seeing classic Cars character pass the torch to a new generation of cars, and Lydia LOVED LOVED LOVED seeing girl cars. Is this a must see? Yup, especially for you girly girl mamas who want to encourage your kiddos to branch out a little from crowns and princess dresses.
