Looking for breaking Disney news? These are the latest updates from the D23 Expo about Disneyland, Disney World and Adventures by Disney!
Thank you to Disney for hosting me as media at the D23 Expo.
The D23 Expo was filled with Disney news, and the Parks, Experiences and Products panel? Had information that every Disney fan NEEDS to know. From a new ship, to new rides, to new dining experiences to a NEW ISLAND, and even a new campus…….there was epic info for EVERY Disney vertical!
Disneyland News:
Disneyland has some BIG updates coming, and one of them is coming soon. If you’re searching Disneyland Vacation Guides for info, be sure to bookmark this page and add the latest parade info to your upcoming plans.

d23 expo news: Avengers campus
Avengers Campus: The Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure will open in phases…..and phase one will be next year! The Avengers Headquarters will hold a new attraction where guests get to FLY along with their favorite Avengers (yes they’ll go to Wakanda), and Pym Test Kitchen will use technology to grow and shrink food. There will be TONS of character encounters, including some pretty awesome Spider Man experiences!
Magic Happens Parade: This spring, the newest parade will debut on Disneyland’s Main Street. Magic Happens will be a daytime parade that features a Moana float, a Coco float, all our favorite classic characters, and a new song produced by singer-songwriter Todrick Hall ( we heard it performed live and it’s GOOOOOD).
Disney World News:
Epcot Updates: We all know and LOVE Epcot, and it was REALLY interesting to hear what the plans are to update the park. The goal? To celebrate everything we know and love about Epcot and to update it so that we can enjoy it even MORE. World Showcase has a TON of amazing additions coming including a Mary Poppins attraction in the UK Pavilion, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (summer 2020 debut) and a Beauty and the Beast Sing Along in the France Pavilion (January 2020 debut), and amazing features in China and Canada. Future World will be transformed into World Celebration (with a new pavilion for festivals, updates to Spaceship Earth and a new Walt Statue in the stunning Dreamers Point), World Nature (featuring Journey of Water a walkthrough experience inspired by “Moana”) and World Discovery (which will include Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the new restaurant Space 220 opening this winter, and new interactive Play! space opening for the 50th anniversary). A new nighttime show (Harmonious) will be premiering at Epcot in 2020 (announced to be the largest nighttime show EVER).
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser: We got a TON of info about this new Star Wars experience at WDW. The two night experience will be fully immersive (think more like a cruise and less like a hotel) and will take guests into their own Star Wars story (meals, light saber training, characters and more). You will interact with other passengers, cast members, and crew and each guest has one excursion…..to Galaxy’s Edge (the WDW location obviously).
Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge: While this new Disney Vacation Club property had already been announced, we got to see new details including……a Princess and the Frog themed dining experience (cue the excitement)!
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway: Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad is coming to Walt Disney World in 2020 and Disneyland in 2022. We saw an adorable preview of the front of the ride in Hollywood Studios and a sneak at the ride cue, which will feature Mickey Mouse shorts.
50th Anniversary: The WDW 50th Anniversary (in 2021) will be celebrated in all 4 parks (in the past it has been ONLY in Magic Kingdom) and will be a pearl / rainbow theme.
Disney Genie: Disney Genie will be a new trip planning tool (an app) available at Walt Disney World in late 2020. This tool will plan itineraries based on your needs (ie a princess themed day) including dining and fast pass suggestions. You’ll be able to make changes throughout the day and it will adjust it’s options. It looks like an AMAZING option for those not familiar with WDW!
Cirque Du Soleil Show: For the first time Disney Animations Studios, Disney Imagineering and Cirque Du Soleil are teaming up to create a new show at WDW. Previews will begin end of March 2020, and the world premiere will be on April 17th.
Adventures by Disney News:
Disney Wish: The Disney Cruise Line has three new ships arriving in the next few years and the first was announced…… the Disney Wish. The Wish will be delivered to Disney in late 2021 and will set sail in January 2022. Rapunzel is at the stern, and the ship has three-story atrium, that looks absolutely stunning!
Lighthouse Point: If you love Castaway Cay as much as we do, then Lighthouse Point will have you itching to book a trip. This new port of call in the Bahamas is located on the island of Eleuthera and will be focus on celebrating the culture of the Bahamas (as well as environmental sustainability).
Shop Disney:
Target x Shop Disney: The news that broke the internet. SHOP DISNEY IS COMING TO TARGET! The goal? To bring Disney to stores and areas outside parks and stand alone stores. These unique experiences inside Target stores will launch with 25 locations on October 4th (HERE is a list of the first 25 locations) and then 40 more will open by October 2020.
So there you have it, all the D23 Expo updates for Disneyland news, Disney World news and Adventures by Disney news. What update are you the MOST excited about?
