Looking for the best swimsuits for summer? Boden Swimwear is seriously changing the game this year.....they have amazing supportive swimsuits that are worth every penny.

I have to say, Boden Swimwear seriously surprised me.  I had the opportunity recently to try a couple of their suits, and….they're definitely higher end investment pieces.  Whenever I see bathing suits for a larger price point, I have HIGH expectations.

My mentality? I'm happy to pay more for a truly great bathing suit.  Styles don't change quickly, and a great suit? Something I love on my body type? Well I've worn my favorite pieces for YEARS.  And when I find a swimsuit I feel confident in? I have a hard time letting it go…..I'll wear it a LOT.

Now, back to these women’s swimwear options from Boden.  As I looked through their website, I saw plenty of cute suit choices.  I loved the vibrant color combinations and I loved the fact that there were bra cups and bust sizing options.  But….how did they FIT?

I tried four different bathing suits on my pear shaped body……and I'm sharing my thoughts.

A few tips for any bathing suits for a pear shaped body:

  • the goal is to balance your shape….so you want to draw the eyes towards your neck and shoulder….a fun neckline, lace, a brighter color, and lace or crochet or fun hardware will do that easily
  • find pieces that fit well and hug your curves, baggy suits or loose tops like tankinis don't flatter a pear shaped body, you want to accentuate that small waist and midsection (and there's nothing worse than an unflattering swimsuit, so take the time to actually TRY ON suits before heading to the pool or beach)
  • try different colors and fabrics, you'll have your favorites and it's best to stick to those…..for me? I love bright colors and fun patterns…….you may love neutrals or solids….it's always fun to take the time to figure out YOUR swim style!

Boden Swimwear: Why you NEED these killer bathing suits……

Let's start with the most fun part, a try on so that you can see all Boden Swimwear pieces on my body shape (if you have a similar one, it might help you to envision these suits on YOUR body):

Boden Swimwear: Solid Colored Bathing Suits

I love a great black bathing suit.  While YES, I do tend to gravitate towards fun colors……a black bathing suit is a CLASSIC.  I can guarantee that investing in a black suit is worth your while.

I've had the SAME black bathing suits for years.  They're great for year round wear, and look awesome with almost any bathing suit cover up.  This Sorrento One Shoulder swimsuit comes in a bright red, and a patterned print, but there is something about the one shoulder cut in classic black that just looks iconic.

Now, the fit is what will make this one of your favorite pieces.  It's got killer support (the suit has a support shelf, very light compression, and lightly padded cups), a not too high-cut leg, and is lined well. This bathing suit has rave reviews online and I can see why.  It fits like a DREAM.

Boden Swimwear: Striped and Colorblocked Swimsuits

Now, let's talk stripes, patterns, bright color choices and one-piece suits that are super fun to wear.  In my opinion, this is where Boden Swimwear really shines.  They have so many FUN women's swimwear options and love love love the colors they included in this summer's new season styles.

Boden Sweetheart Cup-Size Swimsuit:

This was my first time trying a swimsuit that was solely based on cup sizing.  Now I have to be honest, I had SERIOUS concerns.  As a pear shaped person, my cup size tends to be smaller, while my hips and lower half tend to be wider.  So, I was a little worried that if I used the size I wear for regular bras….that it wouldn't fit on the bottom.

But, trust the process right?  So I tried the french navy and ivory stripe version of this suit in my regular cup size (36B for the record)…..and…it was a perfect fit!  Honestly, I was so surprised!

If you're on the hunt for a suit with SERIOUS support, this is a great option.  It has molded cups, and slight body sculpting support throughout (very light compression).

Boden Swimwear Cross Strap Swimsuit

Boden Swimwear: this adorable one piece is PERFECT for summer days by the pool!

Looking for a non-compression suit? This cross strap swimsuit is SUPER comfortable and I love the neckline.  The square neckline is fun and classic, and I love the cross back for an extra added flare.

This bathing suit has lightly padded cups, and extra boning along the side seams for support.  If you want a suit to wear with a rash vest or rash guards, this is a great option (the flat neckline lies nicely with them).

In terms of sizing, I wear a 12 in this suit and it fits PERFECTLY.  If you're in between sizes, I usually suggest sizing up for swimwear.  There's nothing as uncomfortable as SQUEEZING into a bathing suit.

I love the bright papaya swirled print, it's a total blast and feels like….summer sunshine in a print.

Portofino Cup-size Swimsuit

Looking for a color blocked swimsuit? This piece from Boden Swimwear is ADORABLE!

Spoiler…..this is my favorite option out of the new swimwear I tried from Boden's complete online shop.  The colorblocking is adorable, and the most important thing? I feel like a million bucks in it.  In fact, I'm considering ordering it in the moroccan diamond print, it's this pretty opulent garden vibe and I LOVE IT.

This is another cup sized swimsuit……and yet again, fit my pear shape WAY better than I expected.  The padded cups are provide great bust support, and it has VERY light compression (just enough to shape and support without feeling uncomfortable).  I also love that the straps are removable, so you could make this suit strapless if you'd prefer.

My favorite part of this design? The waistband detail is such a fun and unique element.  I love how stylish it is, and think it adds so much to the whole look.

A few details about Boden Swimwear as a whole that really made me love the brand more:
  1. Most suits are made from chlorine-resistant fabric, so they don't fade and will last for YEARS.
  2. The polyamide and polyester in most suits are made from recycled materials (aka the stretchy stuff) so I love the positive environmental impact.
  3. Most suits comes in a variety of different sizes (up to a 22, and up to a 38DDD in the cup sized suits)…..I'd love to see this extended a bit more, but it's definitely a start to a great size range!

What do you think of these options for Boden Swimwear? Have a vote for your favorite bathing suit Boden is carrying this year? And the real question, are you ready for pool and beach season? Whatever your plans…….I can guarantee you'll need a great swimsuit for them this summer!

🚗 Road Trips……Which one are you?⠀ ⠀ Thi 🚗 Road Trips……Which one are you?⠀⠀This weekend we flew to Sacramento and then road tripped north to see my family up in the mountains. It was so much fun to spend time together, and it reminded me….we are ALL one of these people on a toad trip.⠀⠀Bonus points to the VERY nice road trip vehicle we had…..the team at @MazdaUSA lent us a 2023 Mazda CX-50 Turbo Premium Plus and it was AMAZING (it even had a wireless charging dock for our phones). It made my snack stops even better (yup, we tried Dutch Bros for the first time and OMG we need them to expand to more Southern California locations ASAP).⠀⠀So, which are person are YOU on a road trip? ⠀⠀#familytravel #drivemazda
….and also why are we commenting negatively abou ….and also why are we commenting negatively about people’s appearances in 2023?Double also: if the worst thing people on the interwebs can say about me is that they don’t like my smile…..then I feel pretty good about what type of person I’ve chosen to be.
💕Because we all want our kids to soar………⠀⠀So fitting right? Elvis named this plane after his daughter. And all I’ve been thinking about throughout our St Jude experience…..is how certain things truly bond all of us. Certain things cross economic barriers and continent and language differences. Parenthood is one of those. It’s a universal experience. And I think whether we are parents or role models or aunties or friends……we all know what it’s like to dream and hope on behalf of a child in your life.⠀⠀In 2012, when I was newly married and not yet a parent one of my students was diagnosed with cancer. Without revealing details about her or her family, I think it’s important to recognize that economic barriers prevented what should have been an earlier diagnosis. It was one of many times I was reminded during my time with the amazing humans in my classrooms that…..we do NOT all have the same access or experiences in life. That student and her family were one of the miracle stories. In fact, when she came back to class, she complained about missing soccer games at recess and fell right back in with the rest in a way that to this day brings joyful tears to my eyes. ⠀⠀I said this on my stories during my trip, but…..I didn’t realize until this experience that families at St Jude NEVER receive a bill. Ever. No matter what. That this access gives families hope during their darkest days.⠀⠀I’m going to be teaming up with St. Jude to do a fun challenge that will hopefully inspire y’all to support them too. Let’s just say that…..for this scared of heights, refuses to take my feet off the ground theme park girlie……I’m going to making the ultimate sacrifices.⠀⠀What rides would you want to see me go on in support of St Jude? (be kind, I’m literally TERRIFIED of any and all rides that have a height limit). You know they REALLY moved me if I’m even thinking of doing this! ⠀⠀@stjude #stjudeambassador
