Working on your own princess room makeover? I’m excited to finally share the details about Lydia’s princess bedroom…….this one is a total labor of love!
Thank you to Von Jet, Lorena Canal Rugs and Fantasy Fields for providing items for Lydia’s princess room makeover.
Cue the tears. Lydia is officially out of a toddler room and into her new preschooler room. Over the last few months, we realized Lydia was outgrowing her toddler bed. I’m not going to lie, I dragged my feet a little on this princess room makeover. But I promised that she would have her new big girl room when she turned four in December……and we made it just in the nick of time!
My goal? Was to create a princess room that could grow WITH her. So not too cheesy. We had a couple of specific things we wanted to include (a place to collect the buttons we get at Disneyland and a place to store the Ufufys Lydia and I collect). And the whole room? Inspired by the Disney Princess sheets set from Pottery Barn Kids. I love that the sheets use Mary Blair (one of my favorite Disney artists) as inspiration! From the soft (washable!) pink rug to our very own book nook……this princess room makeover helped us to create one of my favorite spaces in our house.

Princess Room Makeover With A Book Nook
Touches of Pink: It was really fun to add light pink touches to Lydia’s room. One of my first finds for her room was this amazing pink rug from Lorena Canals. It’s SUPER soft, and bonus? Machine Washable (a must for a kids room, right?). They also sent over the adorable pink wall hanging that goes about her bed (she calls it her mermaid hair) and the pink basket that we use as her laundry basket. Those pink elements blend perfectly with her pink comforter, her pink and purple wall decals, and pink dress up area!
Toddler Bed Turned Book Nook: This book nook was a last minute stroke of genius. Right before Lydia’s birthday, I had a day off from school while she still had daycare. I took the WHOLE day to clean her room, rearrange it, and to implement the ACTUAL princess room makeover. After HOURS of sorting through too small clothes and removing baby stuff (long overdue)…..my husband informed me that the GARAGE WAS FULL. I had to figure out where to store the toddler bed Lydia had been sleeping in for the last 2 years. Plus, to be honest…..I was a little afraid she’s fall out of the twin bed we’d set up. I kind of wanted to keep the toddler bed on hand for bedroom emergencies. I decided to use it as a daybed. It became the perfect little book nook. We store Lydia’s favorite books, dolls and pillows on it….and it makes my teacher heart proud when I peek my head in her room and spot her happily reading in that book area.
Do you love this princess room makeover as much as I do? Then don’t forget to pin it for later!
So many cute touches I don’t have room for them all. The toddler bed into a nook is a great idea! It sure is obvious she likes her room! Nice makeover!
