Changing the World, One Adorable Tee at a Time: Our Elegantees Collection is HERE!

It's HERE! The Let it Shine Collection with Elegantees is HERE and shoppable……hurry before it sells out!Changing the World, One Adorable Tee at a Time: Our Elegantees Collection is HERE! by fashion blogger Carly of Lipgloss and CrayonsThere are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today.

How is that EVEN POSSIBLE? Let's talk about Human Trafficking.  Trafficking mainly involves exploitation.  This can come in many forms: forced prostitution, involuntary servitude and compelling victims to commit sex acts for the creation of pornography.  And before we assume this is only a third world problem…..HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS A GLOBAL PROBLEM.  The FBI has reported over 15,000 cases of humans being trafficking INTO the United States each and every year.

But the question is, what do we DO?  How can regular moms, daughters, fathers, sons, grandparents, HUMANS make a difference when an issue seems so vast?  It almost seems impossible.

This blog post is a long time coming.  If you've been following along on social media, you know that I've been a part of a HUGE project for the last few months.  My dear friend Molly and I teamed up with an amazing company……Elegantees to design our very own Let it Shine Collection (and yes, it even has kids' pieces)! Elegantees is an AMAZING company that not only makes just about the cutest tees in the world, but they provide employment, hope and encouragement to women in Nepal who have been rescued from human trafficking.

You guys know I'm a HUGE believer in speaking with your retail dollars.  We share our priorities with how we spend our money.  And this? Just about the easiest way to give back (plus you get some adorable clothes in return).

Changing the World, One Adorable Tee at a Time: Our Elegantees Collection is HERE! by fashion blogger Carly of Lipgloss and Crayons// lilly dress / lydia dress //

These dresses are a little girl's dream.  No joke.  They're soft, comfortable, TWIRLY.  The Lilly has the cutest little keyhole neckline and the Lydia has POCKETS.  They come in a variety of fun colors (and I have to say, my favorite might be the grey….it's PERFECT for year round wear).  And the best part? NO tags.

Changing the World, One Adorable Tee at a Time: Our Elegantees Collection is HERE! by fashion blogger Carly of Lipgloss and Crayons// lynda top / lauren dress / donna top //

The Lynda top is stunning right? That patterned fabric? It's a traditional Nepalese fabric called dhaka.  I love the peplum hem of this top, it's SUPER flattering and perfect for wearing with shorts all summer long.

The Lauren dress is named after my sister, and it comes with a detached dhaka sash.  Why is this a MUST buy? Because you can adjust the sash to be the most flattering on YOUR body type.  For my pear shape? I wore it slightly above my natural waist.

The Donna Top is named after my mom….and let me tell you, this tunic WILL sell out. It's the perfect flattering length, and comes in a variety of stunning colors (the white is my favorite basic staple, but it also comes in a mint color I'm obsessed with).

Changing the World, One Adorable Tee at a Time: Our Elegantees Collection is HERE! by fashion blogger Carly of Lipgloss and Crayons// bridgid top / cassie top / abbi top //

The Bridgid Top is literally the PERFECT basic tee.  I'm not going to lie, I packed the white version up in my suitcase and took it home from our trip to Raleigh where we shot the look book.  And I've worn it about a million different ways.  It's great for warm days with a fun pair of shorts and sandals, and I've worn it to work with simple, colored jeans.

The Cassie Top is named after Lydia's godmother.  It's SUPER easy to wear multiple ways…..and that ruching? Totally flattering.  I wore mine over my hips, but it can be worn higher up on a shorter torso.

The Abbi Top is summer perfection.  Those ruffles? Aren't they fun? This shirt is cut on the narrow side, so I sized up (I normally wear a medium and this is a Large).

Changing the World, One Adorable Tee at a Time: Our Elegantees Collection is HERE! by fashion blogger Carly of Lipgloss and Crayons

// beth top / anastacia top / maria top //

The Beth Top is named after my mother in law, and is the PERFECT staple wardrobe piece.  The stitching is stunning, the fit is super flattering, you'll want it in every color!

The Anastacia Top  is a fun, flattering peplum piece.  If you're loving the dhaka fabric, then this is a must buy.  It's light, airy, and perfect with summer pants.

The Maria Top is named after my grandmother, and is the perfect stylish baseball tee.   It hits the hips in a perfect, flattering way and I'll be wearing it all summer with my denim shorts.

Changing the World, One Adorable Tee at a Time: Our Elegantees Collection is HERE! by fashion blogger Carly of Lipgloss and Crayons// the erla dress //

If you buy one piece in the Let it Shine Collection, the Erla dress is my FAVORITE.  This dress is comfortable, flattering, has pockets, and will be something you wear year round.  I mean look at that hemline!

Are you as excited about the Let it Shine Collection with Elegantees as I am? I can't WAIT to see what you guys buy!

These dresses and tops are supercute. And I love that you are helping a great cause. I’d get a set for me and my daughter, but the price point is a little steep for me. They are really adorable though.

Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first I’ve EVER attended (fun fact, when we came to Aulani 5 years ago we were supposed to and it was rained out). The night before on this trip, we had some storms and I thought….oh no, round 2? But……the Hawaiian sun did it’s job and the weather for this was PERFECT. To be honest, this was not cheap. I was a little apprehensive about whether I would feel it was worth the money but…..WOW was it ever. The food was amazing, there were really fun activities for kids at the beginning and the cultural performances were phenomenal. All three of us (including not wanting to spend even more $$$ vacation Robbie) left raving about the experience. Aulani wins for us so far on this trip that I’m so glad I booked in advance (highly suggest doing this as far out from your trip dates as you can)- the luau (try night 2 or 3 of your trip so you’ve had time to adjust to the time change)- Aunty’s Beach House (this is still at limited capacity so you DO need to book in advance, I booked a session for days 2, day 3, and day 4 and we’ve enjoyed having a bit of time each day)- character dining and prix fix dinner at Makahiki (we are one big meal each vacation day people, so DON’T book these the same day, I’d do character breakfast early on your first full day….you’ll wake up early with the time change and the dinner on whichever night you AREN’T doing the luau)Already dreaming of booking another trip here.

We LOVED the character breakfast (so many unique local food offerings) and the Disney Team treated us to the prix fix dinner our first night here….I can’t even begin to explain what a lovely experience it was. Killer cocktails, a GREAT kids’ menu and I had the best Ahi of my life. Now swipe all the way to end for an appearance from Vacation Robbie. We love to see it.And place your votes…..pick ONE treat.
Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had jus Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had just finished two years of grad school. And it had been a long, tough two years. That year involved one major teacher strike in my district, many many many jobs and gigs for both of us, minimal time off together, a whole lot of unknowns and a whole lot of stress. The Disney and Aulani team probably had no idea that they were giving us the gift of much needed peaceful time together when they invited us on a trip to this magical place. A trip that….to be honest, was beyond our means at the time. We cherished every moment. A lot has happened since then. A move, buying a house, seeing those years of hard work pay off. And now….we did it. We’re back. Lazy river here we come. TLDR? If you’re in the thick of it, I see you. We’ve been there. Family, Welcome Home……we did it. Aulani for the week.
Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled muscle? I should have known better. When training for my race, I didn’t stretch or warm up enough most days and….here we are.Lesson learned. I’m 4 weeks post race (do not recommend running a 10k on a pulled muscle) and I’m……almost better. I’m learning to stretch and walk and to take better care of myself so that I can start running again REALLY soon (we’re almost there I think). For now? I’m doing recovery walks and trying to strengthen my leg. And trying to make sure I get enough protein. When I talked about Built Bars on my stories, a LOTTTTT of you raced about their Puffs. Yup, I get it. They’re AMAZING. I’ve been bringing them along on my walks (and gluten free friends….they have some great options for us).Have you ever pulled a muscle? What was recovery like for you?#youGOTTAtrythis #BUILTProtein #BUILT #BUILTbar partner

The Zoo is close to downtown, the Safari Park is about 25 miles north. I’d suggest one day at each. They’re totally unique and both worth a visit. The Safari Park is smaller, but has REALLY unique exhibits (Walkabout Australia is my favorite).⠀2️⃣ both have some really fun and unique dining experiences that you can reserve in advance: Albert’s at the Zoo is a FANCY and fun sit down option, and The Watering Hole at Kijamii Overlook at the Safari Park is great for happy hour or a fun lunch ⠀3️⃣ there are great kids play areas at both locations, the Wildlife Explorers Base Camp area at the San Diego Zoo is brand new and absolutely amazing⠀⠀✨ Now, a bonus tip. Undercover Tourist now has NATIONWIDE savings on over 500 attractions in 50 cities and up to 25% on tickets for theme parks, zoo, museums, aquariums, city tours, water parks, and movie tickets. And the deals they have for San Diego? AMAZING (I’m sharing details in my stories).⠀⠀@themeparkfrog #UncoverSavingsNationwide #ad
