One on one time with your kids is super important, and these? 10 simple daddy daughter date ideas that everyone will love!

With the pace of life these days, the truth is that our time with our children is minimized.  I'm talking real, quality time without interruptions.  Between social media, work obligations, and the general pace of life…..as parents we need to be very intentional about devoting time to our little ones.  It's something that we have been working on a lot lately.  Each week, Robbie and I do a one on one date with Lydia and she's been loving it!  I made a long list of our mother daughter date ideas and thought it would be fun to share some of the daddy daughter date ideas that Robbie and Lydia have been enjoying.  Bonus? Most of these are inexpensive!

10 Fun Daddy Daughter Date Ideas

  1. Sports Event: I'm definitely not a sports person. My husband? HUGE college football and basketball fan.  So, dads? Take your daughter to a game.  A real live game.  I hope Lydia loves sports more than I do!
  2. Where I Go All Week: Take your daughter to visit your work.  Lydia knows that during the week daddy is “working”.  I doubt she understands what that actually means.  Let your daughter visit your office, that way she can picture you when you're gone!
  3. Build It: Build something together.  A clubhouse.  A picture frame.  A shelf.  If this isn't your strong suit…..take a class together at Home Depot, they have workshops for kids and parents each weekend!
  4. Cook Together: Shop for, prep, prepare and enjoy a meal together.  Let's face it, in MOST families…..the moms do the cooking.  It's about time we change that.  I don't care if your meal is a grilled cheese sandwich.  Select a menu together, and after preparing…..enjoy (and please don't forget to put the dishes in the dishwasher!)
  5. Where We Met: Most mothers feel a strong connection to their children in utero.  But dads? It's the moment they laid eyes on you.  Take your daughter back to visit where you first met her.  Yup, the hospital.  Look at the babies, and tell her about the day she made you a dad.  Want to really step it up? Bring cookies for the nurses in labor and delivery…..they deserve them!
  6. Backyard Sleepover: Set up a campsite in the backyard complete with tent, sleeping bags, and smores!
  7. Zoo: Head to your local zoo for the day.  At the entrance, grab a map and plan out which animals you'd like to visit! Focus on animals from one specific region……bonus if you're here in San Diego…..check out the Roar and Snore at the Safari Park….it's the ultimate zoo and sleepover experience.
  8. Dance Class: Take a dance class together! From hip hop to ballroom dancing, kids LOVE to move.  Take a class together, who knows….it could even becoming a weekly thing!
  9. Cinderella: Set up a in-home screening of Cinderella, complete with popcorn and crowns.  Bonus if you make your own crowns before the viewing! Want to really knock this one out of the park? Finish off with reading Cinderella stories from around the world.
  10. Her Choice: Ask your daughter to set the agenda for the day.  Let her pick her favorite activities to share with you!

My fiance loves to save his vacation days at work for the warmer weather and have daddy daughter dates with our little one. I never even get jealous because I know they need the quality time together. He loves taking her to a indoor trampoline park on the not so nice weather days, where they have a toddler play area. It’s safe, and perfect! I do feel like time is minimized. I get off work at 5 my little one wants to go to bed between 7 and 7:30. It’s a little heart breaking.

Lovely ideas – will be trying these when my daughter is older (currently 3 months) I especially like the idea of my husband wearing a princess crown and watching cinderella, will definitely have to give that a try one day!

🎃unpopular opinion: You don’t have to do Oogi 🎃unpopular opinion: You don’t have to do Oogie Boogie Bash to have the perfect spooky season day at Disneyland⠀⠀🎃Now, here’s the thing: I love Oogie Boogie Bash. But it sells out SO quickly every year. And I promise, there is still a LOT of Halloween Time fun at Disneyland (yes even without an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket). I’ve been hopping around the parks with Undercover Tourist and we’ve had a TOTAL blast doing all the spooky things together.⠀⠀A few of my favorite Halloweenie things to do during a parks day (or night):⠀🖤visit the Halloween Tree (IYKYK)⠀🧡watch the Dapper Dans sing all their cutesiest spookiest songs⠀🖤check out the Dia de los Muertos area in Frontierland AND the performances in Paradise Guardians (check for the Mariachi Divas in the app….they’re AMAZING)⠀🧡try at least one new to me spooky treat (yup, that includes my seasonal cold brews and this year’s Minnie Bat Caramel Apple)⠀🖤do alllll the themed attractions, each of these does something special for Halloweentime: Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween, Monsters After Dark, Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree and…..our fav the Haunted Mansion ⠀🧡do Pumpkin Pursuit at Downtown Disney ⠀🖤the new Goofy’s Kitchen Halloween Dinner and Brunch (we loved the dinner over the weekend and I’m sharing the brunch in stories today!)⠀⠀🎃My friends at Undercover Tourist have some pretty awesome guides to Halloweentime on their site……they’re a great spooky season resource for info and a great deals on Disney tickets resource year round. I know, I rave about them a lot but……who doesn’t love a Disney partner that gives you deals on trips to the Happiest Place on Earth for ANY holiday or season?⠀⠀#FrogHopDLR #Disneyland#DisneylandResort #Halloweentime @themeparkfrog @disneyland⠀⠀⠀

🚨 3 MISTAKES I MADE AT MY FIRST RUN DISNEY RACE 🚨 3 MISTAKES I MADE AT MY FIRST RUN DISNEY RACE 🚨⠀⠀🛑 Learn from my mistakes, 3 things you should NOT do if you’re running Disney races this year (trust me):⠀⠀1️⃣ Passing Go and Heading STRAIGHT to the parks: I realllllyyyyy wanted medal pictures. In my running outfit. So, instead of taking the buses straight from the finish line back to the hotel……we went to the Magic Kingdom. Took photos. Went to lunch. And felt…..terrible by about 1 pm. So take it from me, finish the race. Go to the hotel. Shower. Take a nap. THEN go to the parks. ⠀2️⃣ Breakfast: ok, mistake number 2. WHAT WE ATE. We booked a very cute, very on theme lunch. It was also very rich and creamy food. And…..was NOT IT after a race. Some of us may have gotten sick. It might have been the food. Or the lack of sleep. But, breakfast food (waffles / eggs) would have been a MUCH better choice. Now bonus points if you can guess where we ate. Love it, but….not for the first meal after the race.⠀3️⃣ Park Tickets: I spent WAY too much. I didn’t buy my park tickets in advance and paid full price. On a race weekend, you’ll probably want tickets for race day and the day after if not two days after. So….buy them NOW. While you can get a deal. ⠀⠀🎟️ Which leads to……when I say buy those park tickets now, I mean it. Big News! Undercover Tourist is offering their best ticket deal at BOTH Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort…for a VERY limited time, get Adult Theme Park Tickets at Child Prices. So whichever race you are running (or races in my case)……snag tickets NOW. I’m grabbing mine for Wine and Dine and Princess weekend……..⠀🎟️ want a link to the deal? Comment TICKETS PLEASE and I’ll send it your way! ⠀👟 Are you running a Disney Race this year? Which one? ⠀⠀🥇 And if you’re an experienced Run Disney person….what tips do YOU have for first timers?⠀⠀@themeparkfrog @disneyland #FrogHopDLR #rundisney

Two good witches and one black cat…….kick off Two good witches and one black cat…….kick off another year of family halloween costumes. The thing is, I tried to talk Lydia out of these costumes. It was a cooler day on Saturday and I kept telling her we could just wear jeans and the hats. Until, I realized…….we may not have that many Halloween seasons left of cute family costumes. So pink witches we were…..for the kickoff of Legoland’s Brick or Treat. We love Brick or Treat (this is our 3rd year doing it). It’s got some new activities this year, and I L-O-V-E that it’s included in your regular @legolandcalifornia ticket (bonus it ALSO will be included in Kids Free October here in SD).Our favs this year:- the wacky witch trail near the water park entrance- the zombie cheerleaders- halloween themed apple fries- the monster security checkpoint- Jam Out with the Rockers (this meet and greet is HYSTERICAL, scroll for the footage)Brick or Treat takes place on Saturdays in September and then Saturdays and SOME Sundays in October (dates are on the Legoland website).Welp, this makes it official. Summer has come to an end. Bring on the Halloween fun!#sponsored #LEGOLANDcalifornia
