It's swimsuit season, so let's talk affordable swimwear and the best swimsuit options for a pear shaped body type…… this review of cupshe swimsuits will help you find your favorite suits at reasonable prices.

cupshe swimsuits : these are a GREAT bargain swimsuit option!

Hello, it's me….your resident bathing suit lover. As the weather warms, and we start to plan vacations that involve beaches and lakes and water slides and fun……I'm here to remind you that bathing suits can be COMFORTABLE and fun. After years of trying oh so many bathing suits and oh so many styles and oh so many brands…..I definitely have my favorites.

I love Summersalt suits for a high end fit and I've found some GREAT bargain suits over the years…..but there was one bargain swimsuit brand I kept hearing about and hadn't tried.

This year? My first bathing suit goal was to FINALLY try cupshe swimsuits for myself. And spoiler? I'm pretty impressed. From the quality of the swimsuits to the way they fit my body type …..these are a great bargain swimwear option.

Before we go into the specifics about the different styles I tried in my first order ….let's talk bathing suits in general.

Bathing Suit Tips

Before diving into my cupshe swimsuit review , these are a few things I keep in mind when choosing what feels best on my pear shaped body type:

  • the goal is to draw eyes towards your neck and shoulder and to balance your shape….a decorative neckline, lace, a light color, fun hardware will do that
  • find bathing suits that fit well, baggy or ballon like tops don’t flatter a pear shaped body, you want to accentuate that small waist and midsection instead of draping and hiding it
  • try varied colors, fabrics and patterns, you’ll have your favorites and feel great in them

My information: I'm 5 feet 6 inches with a classic pear shape body (smaller on top and wider hips and thighs).  I wear a size 10 to 12.  Almost always a medium top and large bottom.  In swimsuits I usually wear a large in a one piece or a medium top and large bottom in a two piece.

Looking for some great bargain bathing suits? These cupshe swimsuits are all under $30!

cupshe swimsuits : affordable swimwear options

A bit of background: Cupshe is a newish bathing suit brand (they were founded in 2015) with the goal of creating accessible swimwear. They have both plus and straight sized swimwear and very good price points. I tried four different cupshe swimsuits (all one-piece swimsuits ) and all were under $30 (we love to see these type of affordable prices ).

Essential Space Plunge Ladder Trim Monokini Dark Navy Swimsuit

If you are looking for a classic suit and one that will truly flatter all different body shapes then this is IT. I love this suit. It has removable pads and adjustable straps (so some nice support on top) plus a v shaped plunging neckline . The bottom has medium coverage and the color options are LOVELY. I wore this one in a size large. It's currently available in sizes extra small to extra large. This great swimsuit is priced at $29.99 (pretty good for a classic piece of affordable swimwear ).

Boho Rhapsody Twisted One-Shoulder One Piece Swimsuit

I love a great one shoulder bathing suit. This blue suit is similar in style to my favorite black one-piece swimsuit and a look that I think is always fun to wear…..so when I saw that cupshe swimwear had an option for a fun one shoulder style in a pretty blue shade? I had to try it out. A few notes about this particular piece of swimwear: the second strap is both adjustable and removable in case you want a true single strap style. The bottom has classic coverage (so it's not too cheeky) and I found that this had pretty good bust support.

Looking for a great one piece bathing suit? This one shoulder swimsuit is under $30 and super flattering!

I wear a large in this bathing suit and it's priced at $26.99. This is a great one for your next trip to the beach……I love how fun and functional it is to wear!

Elevated Tropicals Ruched Strappy One Piece Swimsuit
Tropical print swimsuit : this is one of the best cupshe swimsuits for this year, and it's a killer price!

Nothing screams tropical vacation style like a great tropical floral print swimsuit. When I spotted this palm leaf print bathing suit on cupshe's website I had to try it. This bathing suit has a square neck which doesn't tend to be my favorite but I figured with cupshe's return process seeming so easy…..if I didn't love it, I could just return it. Well, I have to say….I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I think the key here are the adjustable straps.

I could easily adjust them to a length that I liked, and that made the suit it's most supportive and a perfect fit for long beach days. It has built in cups and I love the simple ladder style cut out back.

This is a fantastic swimsuit for our upcoming spring break trip to a tropical destination and I can't wait to wear it with a simple white cover up and sandals.

I wear this bathing suit in a large, and it's priced at $29.99.

Tempest V-Neck Ruffled One Piece Swimsuit

I love a pretty pastel colored bathing suit, so I had to try this ruffled v neck one piece swimsuit when I spotted it on cupshe's website. In person this is more of a purpley mauve, a really soft purple that is lovely on any skin tone. If you are looking for a more modest bathing suit, then this is a great find and a very fun and affordable option. It has removable cups and more coverage on top because of the ruffles. I found it to be a bit LESS supportive because it doesn't have adjustable straps like the other suits.

cupshe swimsuits are a great option for inexpensive bathing suits, I love this ruffled swimsuit!

This is a common issue for me. As a classic pear shape, I tend to need a larger bottom of a suit but a smaller top. So for one pieces? I do best when I can adjust the straps to fit my smaller upper half. For bikini sets I always order two different sizes. This was really cute, but just a BIT big on top for me.

I wear this bathing suit in a large, and it's priced at $23.99.

honest cupshe review and final thoughts on cupshe swimsuits

All in all? My thoughts on cupshe swimsuits are very positive. For the price, they are stellar quality and I think they have a nice variety of styles and suit types. If you're looking for a new swimsuit , Cupshe suits are a great option. I would suggest sticking with styles and suit types that are your tried and trues and leaning into the options that have adjustable straps so that you can really tailor your suit to fit you. And be sure to check the size chart so that you are getting the right size for YOU.

Have YOU tried cupshe swimsuits ? If so, which of their latest styles are your favorite?

Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first I’ve EVER attended (fun fact, when we came to Aulani 5 years ago we were supposed to and it was rained out). The night before on this trip, we had some storms and I thought….oh no, round 2? But……the Hawaiian sun did it’s job and the weather for this was PERFECT. To be honest, this was not cheap. I was a little apprehensive about whether I would feel it was worth the money but…..WOW was it ever. The food was amazing, there were really fun activities for kids at the beginning and the cultural performances were phenomenal. All three of us (including not wanting to spend even more $$$ vacation Robbie) left raving about the experience. Aulani wins for us so far on this trip that I’m so glad I booked in advance (highly suggest doing this as far out from your trip dates as you can)- the luau (try night 2 or 3 of your trip so you’ve had time to adjust to the time change)- Aunty’s Beach House (this is still at limited capacity so you DO need to book in advance, I booked a session for days 2, day 3, and day 4 and we’ve enjoyed having a bit of time each day)- character dining and prix fix dinner at Makahiki (we are one big meal each vacation day people, so DON’T book these the same day, I’d do character breakfast early on your first full day….you’ll wake up early with the time change and the dinner on whichever night you AREN’T doing the luau)Already dreaming of booking another trip here.

We LOVED the character breakfast (so many unique local food offerings) and the Disney Team treated us to the prix fix dinner our first night here….I can’t even begin to explain what a lovely experience it was. Killer cocktails, a GREAT kids’ menu and I had the best Ahi of my life. Now swipe all the way to end for an appearance from Vacation Robbie. We love to see it.And place your votes…..pick ONE treat.
Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had jus Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had just finished two years of grad school. And it had been a long, tough two years. That year involved one major teacher strike in my district, many many many jobs and gigs for both of us, minimal time off together, a whole lot of unknowns and a whole lot of stress. The Disney and Aulani team probably had no idea that they were giving us the gift of much needed peaceful time together when they invited us on a trip to this magical place. A trip that….to be honest, was beyond our means at the time. We cherished every moment. A lot has happened since then. A move, buying a house, seeing those years of hard work pay off. And now….we did it. We’re back. Lazy river here we come. TLDR? If you’re in the thick of it, I see you. We’ve been there. Family, Welcome Home……we did it. Aulani for the week.
Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled muscle? I should have known better. When training for my race, I didn’t stretch or warm up enough most days and….here we are.Lesson learned. I’m 4 weeks post race (do not recommend running a 10k on a pulled muscle) and I’m……almost better. I’m learning to stretch and walk and to take better care of myself so that I can start running again REALLY soon (we’re almost there I think). For now? I’m doing recovery walks and trying to strengthen my leg. And trying to make sure I get enough protein. When I talked about Built Bars on my stories, a LOTTTTT of you raced about their Puffs. Yup, I get it. They’re AMAZING. I’ve been bringing them along on my walks (and gluten free friends….they have some great options for us).Have you ever pulled a muscle? What was recovery like for you?#youGOTTAtrythis #BUILTProtein #BUILT #BUILTbar partner
💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zo 💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zoo (and swipe to the end for a close up)⠀⠀🌴Coming to San Diego for Spring Break or a Summer Vacation?⠀⠀📍Let’s talk San Diego Zoo (and yes, I got off a plane yesterday, picked up Lydia and we spent the afternoon at the zoo…..it was LOVELY).⠀⠀A few things to help you plan visits to San Diego and the Zoo:⠀1️⃣ the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are NOT close together. The Zoo is close to downtown, the Safari Park is about 25 miles north. I’d suggest one day at each. They’re totally unique and both worth a visit. The Safari Park is smaller, but has REALLY unique exhibits (Walkabout Australia is my favorite).⠀2️⃣ both have some really fun and unique dining experiences that you can reserve in advance: Albert’s at the Zoo is a FANCY and fun sit down option, and The Watering Hole at Kijamii Overlook at the Safari Park is great for happy hour or a fun lunch ⠀3️⃣ there are great kids play areas at both locations, the Wildlife Explorers Base Camp area at the San Diego Zoo is brand new and absolutely amazing⠀⠀✨ Now, a bonus tip. Undercover Tourist now has NATIONWIDE savings on over 500 attractions in 50 cities and up to 25% on tickets for theme parks, zoo, museums, aquariums, city tours, water parks, and movie tickets. And the deals they have for San Diego? AMAZING (I’m sharing details in my stories).⠀⠀@themeparkfrog #UncoverSavingsNationwide #ad
