Heading on a Disney Cruise Line vacation to the Bahamas? This list of Castaway Cay Pictures will tell you where to shoot the best images of your family on Disney's magical private island!

We just got back from a trip to one of our favorite places on earth…..Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.  This is our third (yes third) visit to this magical place and our second Disney Cruise.

Castaway Cay Pictures: this is a killer list of must visit photo spots on Disney's Private Island

A little background: Castaway Cay is a regular stop on Disney Cruise Line’s Bahamas tours.  Both the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream make stops there.  Our trip? Was a short trip on the Disney Dream and our ship docked at Nassau first and then Castaway Cay for a full day.  Castaway Cay is a fairly small island (about 3 miles long) but it’s FULL of activities and some of the most beautiful beachfront land I’ve seen anywhere (that’s saying a lot since we are from California).  The water is the bluest I’ve ever seen, and it’s amazingly warm.  There are family areas, and Castaway Cay also has a beach for adults only.

You can book your day full of activities or you can spend your time on Castaway Cay playing in the sand and either way…..it’s absolutely heavenly.

Must Take Castaway Cay Pictures:

There are a ton of must take Castaway Cay pictures (and yes, you can shoot these on a fancy camera or your iphone…..either way, they’ll be great).

  1. Castaway Cay Welcome Sign: When you exit the ship, you’ll pass the Castaway Cay Welcome sign.  It’s a super cute photo spot, and there is usually an employee there who can snap a photo of the whole family if you’d prefer.
  2. Character Buoys: If you’ve done any research about the island, then you’ve seen the adorable oversized buoys with characters’ faces on them.  They’re a SUPER cute photo backdrop at any time of day.
  3. Blue Blue Water and Hammocks: There’s no background as stunning as the blue water on Castaway Cay.  It’s the prettiest color (no filter needed) and looks amazing in photos.  If you head to the hammock area, there are some great spots that tend to be less crowded.
  4. Characters in their Beach Gear: The characters wear unique beach gear on the island.  Yes, there’s a line to meet them.  But it’s never that long, and it’s totally worthwhile!
  5. Cruise Ship in the Background: Want that classic vacation photo? From the first beach, you can take pictures and get the cruise ship in the background.
  6. Pelican Plunge:  The Pelican Plunge is a super fun outdoor waterslide and climbing area.  If you can, snap a photo of your kids (or your significant other) coming down the slide.  It’s priceless.
  7. Ice Cream Station: One of the best things about a Disney Cruise and Castaway Cay? The unlimited ice cream.  Next to the Ice Cream station on the Island is an adorable colored building perfect for snapping fun ice cream photos.
  8. Summertime Freeze: Ok Frozen fans.  This is a must visit.  Summertime Freeze sells iced drinks in the cutest Frozen themed sippers and has an Olaf statue that is a must visit for his fans.
  9. Castaway Cay 5k: The Castaway Cay 5K is a must do at least once….and there’s nothing like an island photo with your medal for a special vacation memory.
