There’s something magical about the Disney Studios Animation lot.  While Lydia and I have visited the lot a ton of times together, it’s been awhile since our whole family has stepped foot onto the magical ground.  A few days before the Incredibles 2 Press Junket, we were all invited to a screening of Incredibles 2.  To be honest, we were primed for the movie.  Our screening was a few weeks after Lydia and I travelled up north to the Pixar studios for Incredibles Day.  We’ve also watched the original Incredibles at least 10 times in the last month.

A Family Incredibles 2 Review: What We Thought

Carly’s Thoughts: I loved the adult undertones in Incredibles 2.  As a mother who also works outside the home, I laughed my way through Helen’s mishaps as she adjusted to working in her new role…..and cheered her on as she came into her own.  I loved seeing her as the main focus, and I LOVED the idea of her modeling to little girls everywhere that girl supers are just as super as their male counterparts.  Incredibles 2 has the perfect balance of kid appeal and adult humor.  It’s one of the first movies I’ve seen a long time that I think will be enjoyed equally by adults and kids.

One big question I got……do you need to have seen the first Incredibles to appreciate Incredibles 2? NOT AT ALL.  This is definitely a stand alone great film.  I think us die-hard fans will love it in a totally different way (I’ve been waiting 14 years to see Edna Mode again in all her glory)…..but you will love it even if you’re new to the Incredibles franchise.

Lydia’s Thoughts:  I loved it!  My favorite part was Elastigirl on her motorcycle.  There was one scary part, when the mean guy was fighting with Elastigirl…….but it was only a little scary.  The thing that was funny was the raccoon fight with Jack Jack.  I think kids will love this movie!

Robbie’s Thoughts: I was a fan of the first Incredibles…..but I enjoyed Incredibles 2 more.  It’s more exciting, the jokes were funnier, as a Dad I liked seeing Mr. Incredible in a new role with his kids.  The music was great, I’m a huge fan of composer Michael Giacchino…..and I think that his soundtrack is a great stand alone piece of music as well as an homage to old superhero classics.
