The Best Wedding Guest Dress for a Pear Shaped Body

We're in the midst of wedding season, and I'm sharing some of the BEST wedding guest dress options for flattering a pear shaped body!Gearing up for wedding season?!? I'm sharing some of the BEST wedding guest dress options for flattering a pear shaped body!We just got back from an epic road trip.  We drove from Los Angeles up to the San Francisco Bay Area to visit my family.  While we were up there, my husband snuck away for a two night getaway to attend a friend's wedding.  We took naps, slept in, actually TALKED TO EACH OTHER, and got dressed up.  I'm not going to lie, these days I wear more converse than heels and more shorts than fancy dresses.  It felt amazing to get gussied up, and dance the night away.

The Best Wedding Guest Dress for a Pear Shaped Body

I shared my wedding guest dress over on Instagram stories, and you guys loved it (bonus, it's under $100)!  So I wanted to share a few tips for buying a wedding guest dress that you will feel great in.

Tips:

  1. Draw Eyes UP: for a pear shaped body, balance is key.  The reason my dress was so flattering? The colored neckline draws the eyes upward.  Think necklines, ruffles, and lace accents.
  2. Fabric: Try a more structured fabric.  Thin fabric tends to make curves look bigger, whereas structured lines and fabric tend to accentuate and flatter.
  3. Silhouette: certain cuts will ALWAYS flatter.  A-line skirts are amazing on a pear shaped body, midi skirts can look great if they hit at the right length.  A sweeping maxi will be stunning if it cuts IN at the waist.

POPS OF NAVY:

late afternoon wedding

Colorblocked Dress: This is the dress that I wore to our wedding date.  I have to admit…..I wasn't sure about it when I saw it online.  But it fits like a DREAM and that colored neckline? It's my favorite (bonus, it's only $88).

Navy Stud Earrings: These classic stud earrings can be worn everyday, and are PERFECT with the navy neckline.

Beaded Clutch: A great purse is the key to any formal look.  This beaded clutch is a killer price, and can easily be used again with jeans and a simple tee for a girls' night out.

Navy Heels: Navy heels will add a subtle pop of color, and can be worn year round!

PRETTY BLUE:

evening wedding

Light Blue Maxi Dress: Dreaming of looking like Cinderella on her way to the ball? This light blue maxi dress will do the trick! The waistline is super flattering, and that color is perfect for a summer wedding!

Gold Hoop Earrings:If you don't already own a pair of hoop earrings, then these are a must purchase.

Gold Glitter Heels: Something about these heels just scream Cinderella.  Aren't they stunning? And they're on SALE!

Gold Envelope Clutch: A simple gold clutch is perfect for formal events……..

STRIPED GLAM:

daytime wedding

Striped Dress: If I'm being honest, this dress is my FAVORITE. Isn't it cute? I feel like it could easily be dressed for a daytime wedding or dressed down for a bridal shower.

Nude Sandals: If you don't own a nude pair of heeled sandals, buy them.  NOW.  They'll be one of the most versatile items in your wardrobe.

Straw Clutch: A simple straw clutch is perfect for summer, it can be carried with a casual sundress or something a little fancier.

Gold Knot Bracelet: A simple gold bangle bracelet is a must own…..and I love how this one looks a little nautical!

I’ve gotta be honest, flash cards were just not cutting it for us. ⠀⠀So I dove into her @Amazon Fire Kids Tablet and found some really great multiplication games that are included in her @Amazonkids Plus Membership. ⠀⠀Reminder, an Amazon Kids+ membership is included for the first year when you buy any Amazon kids device, then costs just $4.99 a month after that. It includes ebooks, audiobooks, games and movies (I’ve talked a TON about the books and audiobooks that are included, so I’m excited to share a math⠀option).⠀⠀Our current favorite multiplication games:⠀⠀1️⃣ Multiplication Memorizer⠀⠀2️⃣ Multiplication Kids⠀⠀3️⃣ Pinkfong Fun Times⠀⠀Now, anyone in your house? (teachers, you get it right?!?)I mean, HAD TO TAKE A PHOTO (or 20). This weekend was the start of Peanuts Celebration at Knott’s Berry Farm and we spent a day immersed in all things Snoopy. From the rides in Camp Snoopy to the adorable new shows to the ACTUAL PIGS in Pigpen’s Pig Pen there was so much to do…..I’m so glad that Knott’s invited us to check it all out! Now, who is YOUR favorite Peanuts character? Yesterday was filled with friends and food and fun and feet (sore ones after walking around from dawn to way past dusk)…….and as Lydia and I tucked ourselves into bed last night……I felt so much gratitude. Our happy place has brought so much joy into our lives and so many people that enrich each moment.⠀⠀✨The Disney 100 Celebration will be happening ALL YEAR, and I feel like we still have so much to see and do.⠀⠀💜Favorite Moments and Experiences from our day one of Disney 100:⠀🚂riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad: I avoided ALLLLLL spoilers (there are some in this carousel btw), and had seen NONE of the attraction until we stepped into the queue…. it was absolutely adorable and I can’t WAIT to ride it again, plus when we exited the ride…..some of the team that created it were at the exit and seeing their smiles? ABSOLUTE DISNEY MAGIC.⠀🌅seeing the sun rise over the castle bright and early⠀💕running into friends every 5 minutes, it felt like a giant reunion⠀👗characters in their costumes, not going to lie….we didn’t wait in lines for them….they were length, but we gave a wave as we walked by and they looked stunning⠀⠀✨When is your next Disney trip???
🏰Dreaming of Dancing in Front of the Castle for 🏰Dreaming of Dancing in Front of the Castle for Spring Break?🏰⠀⠀📷A few castle photo tips:⠀1️⃣side, not center……both sides of the castle have lovely little spots that provide a great view of the castle and moat, but avoid the crowd (plus you can get some nice flattering light into the mid morning or in the late afternoon)⠀2️⃣want to be closer to the front? Sit on the back of the benches built into the moat entrance, you’ll be a bit elevated, it gives a great angle and a better view of the castle herself ⠀3️⃣if you REALLY want that walking into the castle shot…..this is something you can do during early entry time if you are staying on property ⠀⠀🧳Now, let’s talk Spring Break tips in collaboration with @themeparkfrog :⠀🚨This is IT. Red alert. If you’re hoping to visit the Happiest Place on Earth for Spring Break….BOOK IT NOW. Spring Break is around the corner, and the more you plan, the happier you’ll be (trust me).⠀⠀To do (in order):⠀1️⃣book your hotel, theme park tickets and rental car: for the best deal, you can do this as a bundle with Undercover Tourist (you’ll save a TON this way….I’m sharing more in stories)⠀2️⃣once you have your trip dates….book dining. At Disneyland you can book 60 days in advance (which means, NOW and coming up very soon for Spring Break).⠀3️⃣ If you want to do something special like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, you can ALSO book that 60 days in advance.⠀⠀✨So, are you ready? Blue skies, sunshine, and Disney Magic guaranteed. What are YOUR spring break plans?
