What I thought of THE Marvel female superhero…….who should see Captain Marvel and why. What I thought of THE Marvel female superhero.......who should see Captain Marvel and why.

Let’s address the elephant in the room.  This was my first Marvel movie.  EVER.  I know, who am I?  Somehow, I just felt like I was always behind when it came to the Marvel franchise. I didn’t know the background on all the characters.  Would I be lost? So many of my friends LOVE Marvel films……and I felt like I couldn’t keep up.  Well, you know what made me change my tune? THE Marvel female superhero…..Captain Marvel herself.  Yes, I am aware that there are other Marvel girl superheroes.  But I’m also a huge Brie Larson fan.  So Brie Larson Captain Marvel?  That motivated me BIG TIME.

Marvel Female Superhero: Captain Marvel

Spoiler alert: I LOVED THIS MOVIE.  While this is obviously created as an integral part of the overall Marvel story……it’s also a standalone film.  Yes, you will enjoy it even if you’re not a Marvel expert.  And honestly? I went home and told my husband that we need to start watching all the Marvel films.

Let’s talk girl power.  Brie Larson KILLED it as Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel.  The action scenes are breathtaking, and the CGI / special effects in the film? Absolutely amazing.  You guys know I’m all about strong women, and seeing her kick some _______? I loved it.

Who should see this movie? It’s rated PG 13, and this definitely not one I’ll be taking my five year old to see.  There is a reasonable amount of violence (it is an action movie after all), and I honestly think that she wouldn’t follow the plot very well at this age.  Kids 12 and up? Will love it.  Adults? Will want to see it again.  So date night? Girls night? YES.  Book it.  And color me impressed, Captain Marvel turned this Marvel-neutral lady into a fan.  I just need to decide which film to watch next!

CAPTAIN MARVEL arrives in theatres everywhere on March 8th!

I was not a Marvel fan either until my boys were old enough to get into the movies. Now I’m hooked! Just saw Captain Marvel tonight. It was so good!! I haven’t seen Brie Larson in much, but I loved her in Kong, Skull Island (with Nick Fury and Loki). She was great in that and awesome in Captain Marvel. Love having an awesome female superhero lead. We need a Black Widow movie now.
