Well, the weather has FINALLY cooled off……and it’s time to start thinking about holiday dresses!  For more casual holiday parties, this red sweater dress is my favorite….it’s also SUPER easy to transition from day to night.

Remember that scene in Legally Blonde when Elle Woods walks into the Halloween party in her bunny costume? Remember her dismay when she realizes everyone else isn’t as dressed up as she is?  Confession, I sort of fear feeling that way about holiday dresses (maybe because this scenario totally happened to me at an event last spring).  You know those in between parties? The not super dressy and not ugly christmas sweater ones?  

I always walk in with a little concern that I’ll be WAY over or way under dressed (and who wants to be the girl who is over or under dressed at the party?).  So this red sweater dress? Is my I don’t know what to wear to the party solution (it actually arrived in my Trunk Club delivery in September and I’ve been not so patiently waiting for the weather to cool down so I can get more use out of it).  It’s versatile and can easily be dressed up or down.  In fact, I’m planning to wear it to both our Thanksgiving family dinner and to a couple of early holiday parties that weekend.

Holiday Dresses: Red Sweater Dress

Full disclosure.  This isn’t JUST a holiday party dress.  I’ve already worn it a TON.  It’s a great versatile cooler weather dress.  For casual dinners, or even those smaller holiday parties? It’s the perfect holiday dress.  Just pair it with stacked mules, large earrings, and a bold lip color.

Want to wear it during the day?  We had a couple of lunches last year that I really struggled to find holiday dresses for.  This? WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT.  Pair it with these flat loafer mules or tall boots.  Add a denim jacket and hoop earrings.  It’s a great casual option.

If you’re looking for holiday dresses that you can get multiple uses out of during winter travel…..this will totally fit the bill.  Did I mention that it’s under $100 and doesn’t wrinkle in a suitcase? I know, a total win.
