Planning a visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ (aka Harry Potter Land California)? I'm sharing the most Instagram worthy spots to snap photos!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (aka Harry Potter Land California): this is the BEST list of all the places to take pictures!

Anyone else obsessed with Harry Potter?  We live just up the road from Universal Studios Hollywood, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (which everyone just calls Harry Potter Land California).  Now that Lydia is a little bit older, we've been taking a family deep dive into all things Harry, Hagrid and Hogwarts related.  We've rewatched all the movies, and I've been remembering how much I love this franchise.  Last night, I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of a special event…..the premiere of the Dark Arts at Hogwarts™ Castle show.  We got to see the new amazing light and music show that pays homage to Dementors, Death Eaters and the Dark Lord, Voldemort (and trust, it's a must see) and to explore the entire Wizarding World while it was closed to the public (talk about a dream come true).

One of my favorite things to do in any theme park? To round up all the fun photo spots in the park.  Let's be honest, when we visit on busy days, we all want to fun great instagram worthy spots that don't have a huge crowd in the background.  These are the best places to take pictures at the Wizarding World even on a busy day!

The Best Places to Take Pictures in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (aka Harry Potter Land California)

Visiting Harry Potter Land California (aka The Wizarding World of Harry Potter)? These are the BEST places to take pictures!

In Front of the Hogwart's Express: When you enter Harry Potter World California, you'll run right into the Hogwart's Express.  This adorable train is a GREAT spot to take pictures (especially because there's often a conductor wandering about).  Be aware, it does make actual train noises and steam comes out.  There are multiple angles to shoot from.  My personal favorite? From the front of the train, it backs against a wall so you'll easily get a clean shot without people in the background.

Hagrid's Hut (entrance to Flight of the Hippogriff): Hagrid's Hut is one of my favorite spots in all of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  You pass by it in the que for Flight of the Hippogriff.  Be prepared, you'll have to shoot fast, but it's a really cute photo spot (and a great way to pass the time in line).

Visiting Harry Potter Land California (aka The Wizarding World of Harry Potter)? These are the BEST places to take pictures!

Hogwarts: Anything Harry Potter isn't complete without a trip to Hogwarts.  The castle inside Harry Potter Land California is stunning.  You can take close up shots against the walls, but honestly I love a faraway shot.  Shoot from down low looking up, and you'll be able to get the castle without a ton of people in the backround.  A really fun time to shoot is during the new Dark Arts at Hogwarts™ Castle show.  It's absolutely stunning, and the amazing lights against a dark sky make for REALLY fun images! Another option? The entrance to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is the perfect spot to take close ups.

Ollivanders: Ollivanders is a magical shop where your wand picks you.  Be sure to wait in line for the wand selection ceremony, it's really fun.  The actual wand inventory shop is well lit and a fun place to take pictures (the blue room is my personal favorite).

From Honeydukes to Hargrid's Hut, this is the ULTIMATE guide to taking pictures inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Save it for your next trip to Harry Potter Land California!

In Front of Honeydukes: Honeydukes is one of the first shops you'll see on your left when you enter Harry Potter World California, it's an adorable shade of green with pink trim.  The walls are a great spot to take fun colorful photos (especially over the holidays when there is Christmas decor and snow everywhere).

Inside Owl Post: If you've got an owl obsessed family member, Owl Post is a great spot to take pictures (it also has TONS of natural light so great for photos).  There's tons of Owl mail everywhere, and beautifully stacked shelves perfect for a photo backdrop.

Three Broomsticks: Three Broomsticks is a dark tavern filled with DELICIOUS food.  Pro tip: if you'd like to take photos, the back patio is PERFECT.  It's well lit, decorated perfectly and is often less crowded than the inside area.

From Honeydukes to Hargrid's Hut, this is the ULTIMATE guide to taking pictures inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Save it for your next trip to Harry Potter Land California!

The Car: You know the famous car that appears multiple times in the books and movies? It's currently parked outside Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.  As you walk through the que, be sure to snap a picture in front of it!

With Butterbeer: I love me some great theme park food and butterbeer is my absolute Universal Studios Hollywood favorite.  The frozen version is super refreshing in the summer (so is the butterbeer ice cream by the way) and the warm version is perfect on a cool winter night.  They're perfect for fun food photos, I love to shoot right in front of the Butterbeer cart in the center of town.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (aka Harry Potter Land California): this is the BEST list of all the places to take pictures!

Hogsmeade: The entire Hogsmeade area has great walls, doors and alleys that are perfect for shooting.  My favorite hidden gem? Walk down the alley on the right side when you enter, and wander through the small alley of shops.  The stack of caldrons is a perfect hidden spot for cute pictures and so are all the shop window displays!

Special Events Not to Miss:

The light show at Hogwarts Castle in Harry Potter Land California is always amazing, but I have to say…..the current Dark Arts at Hogwarts™ Castle show is my favorite.  I love that this show gives us a total opportunity to be transported to Hogwarts and the battle agains Voldemort.  It's stunning, and the music is GREAT!  Be sure that you stay to see it at least once!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: the Dark Arts show is amazing!

Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled muscle? I should have known better. When training for my race, I didn’t stretch or warm up enough most days and….here we are.Lesson learned. I’m 4 weeks post race (do not recommend running a 10k on a pulled muscle) and I’m……almost better. I’m learning to stretch and walk and to take better care of myself so that I can start running again REALLY soon (we’re almost there I think). For now? I’m doing recovery walks and trying to strengthen my leg. And trying to make sure I get enough protein. When I talked about Built Bars on my stories, a LOTTTTT of you raced about their Puffs. Yup, I get it. They’re AMAZING. I’ve been bringing them along on my walks (and gluten free friends….they have some great options for us).Have you ever pulled a muscle? What was recovery like for you?#youGOTTAtrythis #BUILTProtein #BUILT #BUILTbar partner
💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zo 💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zoo (and swipe to the end for a close up)⠀⠀🌴Coming to San Diego for Spring Break or a Summer Vacation?⠀⠀📍Let’s talk San Diego Zoo (and yes, I got off a plane yesterday, picked up Lydia and we spent the afternoon at the zoo…..it was LOVELY).⠀⠀A few things to help you plan visits to San Diego and the Zoo:⠀1️⃣ the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are NOT close together. The Zoo is close to downtown, the Safari Park is about 25 miles north. I’d suggest one day at each. They’re totally unique and both worth a visit. The Safari Park is smaller, but has REALLY unique exhibits (Walkabout Australia is my favorite).⠀2️⃣ both have some really fun and unique dining experiences that you can reserve in advance: Albert’s at the Zoo is a FANCY and fun sit down option, and The Watering Hole at Kijamii Overlook at the Safari Park is great for happy hour or a fun lunch ⠀3️⃣ there are great kids play areas at both locations, the Wildlife Explorers Base Camp area at the San Diego Zoo is brand new and absolutely amazing⠀⠀✨ Now, a bonus tip. Undercover Tourist now has NATIONWIDE savings on over 500 attractions in 50 cities and up to 25% on tickets for theme parks, zoo, museums, aquariums, city tours, water parks, and movie tickets. And the deals they have for San Diego? AMAZING (I’m sharing details in my stories).⠀⠀@themeparkfrog #UncoverSavingsNationwide #ad
In high school, I wasn’t supposed to cross the b In high school, I wasn’t supposed to cross the bridge without permission.⠀⠀I grew up about 20 minutes from San Francisco, on the OTHER side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Yes, you know that opening scene in Full House where they’re driving across the bridge? I was on the other side of that. And one of MOST parents’ rules where I grew up? No going into the city without permission. Sorry mom and dad, it’s been long enough…..now I can disclose that we broke that rule constantly.⠀⠀San Francisco is my favorite city. It’s intimate and moody and filled with history and some of the best food in the world. It reminds me of childhood trips to the zoo and Golden Gate Park, it reminds me of my first apartment after college and my first serious relationship. It reminds me of 22 year old carefree nights with friends and milkshakes at Mels in high school and coffee in North Beach and nights in the Marin Headlands (the closest we were supposed to get to the bridge).⠀⠀So when I had the opportunity to spend 20 hours in my city by the Bay? I took it.⠀⠀Photo Diary:⠀1) nothing like a hotel room to yourself ⠀2) basically drove through a monsoon in San Diego yesterday to make it to the airport⠀3) through the fog? You can see the Golden Gate Bridge⠀4) SFO ⠀5) drove right through North Beach where my mom lived until she was 2, and texted her this photo of a church where she remembers going to weddings as a child⠀6) dinner with Dove, talking about the importance of diversity and representation in gaming avatars ⠀7 and 8) anyone else got a roblox fan in their house? Dove is changing the game (pun intended) and we love to see it.⠀⠀Have you been to San Francisco?
