Looking for information about online reading programs? These online programs are great supplements for in person reading instruction and are a great tool to have in your learning tool belt!

Let's talk about online reading programs.  As a teacher, programs like these were a supplement that I always suggested to parents.  In addition to reading aloud at home together.  Technology can be a great tool to add to your own at home practices or classroom work.  Does an online program replace the benefit of reading a book with your children? Or practicing sounds and phonics skills? Not all together….but it's a great addition.

These are all online reading programs that I personally used, suggested as a classroom teacher and have tried with my own daughter.  If you are looking for some great at home options…..each of them is something I recommend!

The Best Online Reading Programs

ABC Mouse (ages 2-8): ABC Mouse is a phonics based program with both a web and app based option.  It's great for practicing sounds and blending.  There is also a free program for teachers.  I used this as an independent station in my first grade classroom.  It's a great tool to practice sounds and letter knowledge!  I'd suggest this for beginning readers or children still working on sounds.

Price: $9.95 per month, Special offer $49.95 for a year

Reading Eggs (ages 2-13): Reading Eggs is a great option for older kids who are reading fluently.  They have programs that practice letter and sound awareness, but also comprehension programs (which are harder to find).

Price: $89 for a family plan (includes up to 4 children), $9.95 a month for single child access, $59 a year for a single child account

Hooked On Phonics (ages 3-8): Hooked on Phonics is a great online reading program for….kids working on phonics (sounds and putting them together to make words).  This program comes with supplemental materials (a workbook) but can also be done as a stand alone online program.  You can use the app and computer portion with up to three kids (they each get their own account) but will receive one workbook for each membership.  This has both app and website access.

Price: $6.99 for one month, $39.99 for one year, $49.99 for lifetime access

Sign up for a 1 Month Trial for $1

Leapfrog Academy: We've talked about Leapfrog Academy for years, this app is a great option for preschoolers to early elementary.  I love that it is super kid and user friendly and practices skills that will get children kindergarten ready.  Leapfrog also makes a ton of reading tools and books (you can shop those here on Amazon) but this is a great web based option.

Price: app is free, in app pricing is $7.99 a month

Have you used any of these online reading programs? Which is your favorite?

🚨 3 MISTAKES I MADE AT MY FIRST RUN DISNEY RACE 🚨 3 MISTAKES I MADE AT MY FIRST RUN DISNEY RACE 🚨⠀⠀🛑 Learn from my mistakes, 3 things you should NOT do if you’re running Disney races this year (trust me):⠀⠀1️⃣ Passing Go and Heading STRAIGHT to the parks: I realllllyyyyy wanted medal pictures. In my running outfit. So, instead of taking the buses straight from the finish line back to the hotel……we went to the Magic Kingdom. Took photos. Went to lunch. And felt…..terrible by about 1 pm. So take it from me, finish the race. Go to the hotel. Shower. Take a nap. THEN go to the parks. ⠀2️⃣ Breakfast: ok, mistake number 2. WHAT WE ATE. We booked a very cute, very on theme lunch. It was also very rich and creamy food. And…..was NOT IT after a race. Some of us may have gotten sick. It might have been the food. Or the lack of sleep. But, breakfast food (waffles / eggs) would have been a MUCH better choice. Now bonus points if you can guess where we ate. Love it, but….not for the first meal after the race.⠀3️⃣ Park Tickets: I spent WAY too much. I didn’t buy my park tickets in advance and paid full price. On a race weekend, you’ll probably want tickets for race day and the day after if not two days after. So….buy them NOW. While you can get a deal. ⠀⠀🎟️ Which leads to……when I say buy those park tickets now, I mean it. Big News! Undercover Tourist is offering their best ticket deal at BOTH Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort…for a VERY limited time, get Adult Theme Park Tickets at Child Prices. So whichever race you are running (or races in my case)……snag tickets NOW. I’m grabbing mine for Wine and Dine and Princess weekend……..⠀🎟️ want a link to the deal? Comment TICKETS PLEASE and I’ll send it your way! ⠀👟 Are you running a Disney Race this year? Which one? ⠀⠀🥇 And if you’re an experienced Run Disney person….what tips do YOU have for first timers?⠀⠀@themeparkfrog @disneyland #FrogHopDLR #rundisney

Two good witches and one black cat…….kick off Two good witches and one black cat…….kick off another year of family halloween costumes. The thing is, I tried to talk Lydia out of these costumes. It was a cooler day on Saturday and I kept telling her we could just wear jeans and the hats. Until, I realized…….we may not have that many Halloween seasons left of cute family costumes. So pink witches we were…..for the kickoff of Legoland’s Brick or Treat. We love Brick or Treat (this is our 3rd year doing it). It’s got some new activities this year, and I L-O-V-E that it’s included in your regular @legolandcalifornia ticket (bonus it ALSO will be included in Kids Free October here in SD).Our favs this year:- the wacky witch trail near the water park entrance- the zombie cheerleaders- halloween themed apple fries- the monster security checkpoint- Jam Out with the Rockers (this meet and greet is HYSTERICAL, scroll for the footage)Brick or Treat takes place on Saturdays in September and then Saturdays and SOME Sundays in October (dates are on the Legoland website).Welp, this makes it official. Summer has come to an end. Bring on the Halloween fun!#sponsored #LEGOLANDcalifornia
