On the hunt for holiday dresses? This velvet wrap dress is the perfect piece to wear over and over again this holiday season!

Does anyone else feel like velvet gives them flashbacks to the early nineties? Now, I may be a little older than some of you (I’m 38 for the record)…..but this year’s velvet trend gives me all the high school flashback feelings.  I may not be pairing my velvet holiday dresses with combat boots this year or baggy painter jeans (thank goodness)……but I love all my velvet pieces just as much as I did during the year Clueless was released and when my biggest complaint was my ten pm curfew.

I’ve actually worn this dress twice already, and it was one of the best investments I’ve made for the winter season.  Remember the stunning pink velvet dress I pulled the trigger on a couple weeks ago? I feel like this is the slightly less dramatic version of it (it also costs way less).  The flattering wrap shape is perfect on EVERY body type and this color? I love love love the deep blue…….

So this dress? I may not be pairing it with chokers or plucking my brows into pencil thin lines like I did when I was imitating Drew Barrymore in her hayday…….but it does make me feel vibrant and pretty, same as velvet did when I was headed to the Junior Year Winter Formal (thank goodness my date for holiday parties this year is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade and I can stay out as late as I want…..which is still 10 pm, ha!).

Holiday Dresses: Velvet Wrap Dress

So you guys know my thoughts on holiday dresses.  Some are super flashy, and you’ll wear them for a year or two.  They’re VERY trendy, and not worth spending a ton on.  Well this velvet wrap dress? Feels like a marriage of trendy and long term classic investment.  The shape is a classic.  And while velvet happens to be VERY on trend this year, it will ALWAYS be wearable around the holidays.  

I’ve worn this more casually with a simple ballet flats and stud earrings and I’ve worn it to dress up with closed toe heels and my favorite statement earrings.  And in a few weeks? I’ll be dressing it up with sparkling chandelier earrings and open toe silver heels.  So…..don’t judge me when you see this dress about a million times this year.
