Planning to do a disneyland mother's day? This is everything you need to know about visiting the disneyland resort for a special day celebrating the mother figure in your life.
Disneyland is always fun to visit for a special occasion from a Disneyland birthday to Disneyland Halloween. We've spent many a holiday at the Happiest Place on Earth, including more than one disneyland mother's day experience. This year's Mother's Day was such a wonderful experience, so I wanted to share some of my favorite tips and thoughts on planning your own Disneyland Mother's Day weekend or day trip.
Disneyland Mother's Day
There are so many fun things to plan while visiting the disneyland resort for this unique holiday or weekend, but I think there are a few things to keep in mind. You'll need to plan where to stay (I loved doing an entire weekend so that we could feel a little less rushed), figure out a plan for dining, and then a few special activities (there are always limited-time offerings around the holiday).
Disneyland Park for Mother's Day: Where to Stay
If you are staying in Anaheim for the weekend, there are a TON of options for hotels and places to stay. A disneyland mother's day is a unique experience, and a time (in my opinion) to stay at a bit of an upgraded hotel. We love love loved the JW Marriott for the mothers day weekend. It's a LOVELY hotel with great amenities and ambiance and it's perfectly walking distance from Main Street.
A few of my favorite benefits to staying at the JW Marriott Anaheim:
- 15 minute walk to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure
- Starbucks in the lobby from 6 am to 11 am each morning
- a lovely pool area
- killer dining options (Tocca Ferro Chophouse for great dinners, Parkestry Rooftop Bar for light bites and some amazing cocktails)
- the best soaking tubs in each room
- JW Gardens are a lovely and peaceful escape from hustle and bustle
The JW Marriott is a perfect option when you planning a weekend celebrating the special person in your life.
Disneyland Mother's Day : Special Experiences
One of my favorite things about the disney resort for mother's day is the special and unique ways they show extra love to all the mother figures in the parks that weekend and month.
Whether you are entering disneyland or the disney california adventure park , on Mother's Day itself….you'll encounter the carnation table right at the front. This is a lovely opportunity to pick up a flower to anyone in your party who is celebrating. The cast members made a point of sharing that the flowers were for ANYONE who would like one, which I loved.
There are also some really fun experiences around the resort and hotels (each year they publish upcoming activities for a disneyland mother's day on the disney parks blog so that you can plan). A few of my favorite things to do this year across both themes parks? We listened to the live band play at paradise garden , visited our favorite disney pal duo (anna and elsa), watched them make treats at the candy kitchen and visited the lobby at the disney’s grand californian hotel & spa to hear the piano player.
Disneyland Mother's Day : Special Dining Options
There are a ton of special mother’s day meals options that are especially fun and unique ways to celebrate the holiday. I think that character meals are ALWAYS a fun option (we have a full guide to disneyland character dining options HERE).
Another fun dining option? The mother’s day brunch buffet at storytellers cafe (this IS a character dining option, just an upgraded version). They have a special menu each year, you'll get to see characters, and they have mother's day buttons as well. We really enjoyed doing this and then walking in the entrance from the hotel straight into Disney California Adventure. It was the perfect way to start the day!
You can also book goofy's kitchen or plaza inn for character dining…..they're really fun options.
Pro tip, the dining reservations for Mother's Day at Disneyland fill up especially quickly. Reservations open for dining 60 days in advance, so try to reserve right away for the best options.
Another fun dining option? There are usually some special mother's day treats available for mobile order from jolly holiday bakery cafe …. they'll be listed among the regular menu items in the mobile order section of the disneyland app.
But my most important disneyland mother's day advice? Have FUN. Ride your favorite attractions. Visit your favorite characters. Eat your favorite snacks. And have fun with your favorite people.
