It's Halloween Time at Disneyland!  If you follow me on INSTAGRAM, then you know Disneyland Halloween 2018 is here AND that our family got to visit Disneyland for a special Disneyland Halloween 2018 Preschooler Event.  We checked out all the Disneyland Halloween 2018 fun for families, and trust there's a TON to do!  From now until to October 31st, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will be looking a little spookier than usual.  If you love holidays at the Happiest Place on Earth, then be sure to set aside a date on your calendar to Disneybound……because Halloween at the park is better than ever!

I got the scoop on Disney Halloween Food, the special Halloween Decor, and the fun Halloween additions to some of your favorite rides (there are even great options for little ones).

Disneyland Halloween 2018: Our Favorite Family Activities

Who to Meet:

One of the most fun things about Disneyland Halloween 2018 is the special character experiences.  From now until October 31st, our favorite Disney character are decked out in their Halloween Costumes and it's adorable!

Vampirina: Lydia is obsessed with Vampirina.  OBSESSED.  So meeting her was at the TOP of our to do list.  Trust me, she was even better in person than we imagined.  If you've got a Disney Junior fan, then this meet and greet is a must.   Vampirina is currently doing meet and greets in Disney California Adventure (be sure to check the Disneyland App for exact times each day) and rumor has it that she's also in the Halloween parade!

Mickey and Minnie in Costume: Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween Costumes might be my absolute favorite thing during the fall.  You can spot them in different locations around Disneyland Park (our favorite spot to find them is on Main Street near the giant Mickey Pumpkin, and early in the morning….there tends to be a short wait)!

Jack and Sally: I know, I know…..we talk about Nightmare Before Christmas a lot.  It's our favorite movie.  And this is the TIME of year to celebrate it big time.  This year Jack and Sally are doing meet and greets near the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square (check the app to see when they're available).

Cars in Costume: Carsland is literally preschooler heaven during Disneyland Halloween 2018.  Besides the amazing decor, you get to see your favorite Cars characters decked out in their very own Halloween costumes, trust it's ADORABLE!

Disneyland Halloween 2018: This family guide will help you plan your Disneyland trip! What to Eat:

Orange Sugar Skull Pot de Crème (Rancho de Zocalo, Disneyland): This might have been my favorite dessert item, and Lydia loved it too.  It has an amazing orange flavor to compliment the chocolate……and the cutest sugar skull accent.

Mickey Bread with Fangs (Pacific Wharf Cafe, Disney California Adventure): The Mickey Bread is a total classic, tastes delish……and is the perfect size to split as a non-sweet family snack.

Spicy Pepper Jack Dog (Corn Dog Castle, Disney California Adventure): THIS IS THE BEST CORN DOG I've ever had.  It's garnished with blueberry sauce and a small jalapeno pepper.  It's a little spicy for kids, but the grown ups will go nuts for it!

Candy Cone Pie (Flo’s V8 Café, Disney California Adventure): Did you see Lydia and I taste testing the Flo's Cafe treats on our Instagram stories? This small pie is AMAZING, it has a caramel center and is the perfect amount of sweet.

Pumpkin Spice Shake (Flo’s V8 Café, Disney California Adventure): I know, I know. Pumpkin spice everything.  But this shake? Pumpkin amazingness, laced with caramel and topped with whip cream, graham crackers and spices.  TRUST, it's delish.

Mickey Mummy Macaroon (Jolly Holiday, Disneyland): Disneyland macaroons are the best, right? This adorable mickey shaped macaroon contains a cookies and cream center, it's also perfect for photos (gotta love those Disney food pictures)!

Oogie Boogie Popcorn Bucket: I couldn't resist.  The Oogie Boogie Popcorn bucket is a MUST purchase.  Yes, it goes quickly.  While we were there, we did see it available at popcorn stands in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

Minnie and Minnie Stuffed Animals: The seasonal Mickey and Minnie stuffed animals are always adorable.  And this year's? Decked out in the same Halloween Costumes you'll see them wearing on Main Street.  Lydia was so excited.  We even saw a family who brought a fabric pen and was having all the characters SIGN their stuffed animal!

Halloween Ears: Anyone else OBSESSED with holiday ears? This year there are ADORABLE sequin Halloween ears with a polka dot bow, and we totally snagged a pair!

Disneyland Halloween 2018: This full family guide is perfect for planning your trip!Don't Miss:

Storytellers Cafe Breakfast:  Whether it's Disneyland Halloween 2018 or any other time of year, the Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet is ADORABLE and seriously perfect for preschoolers.  This trip was our first time experiencing it and Lydia is already begging to go again.  The characters were SO friendly and they even lead the kids in an adorable parade around the whole buffet!

Carsland decor is the best!Carsland Decor: The decor is Carsland is a MUST visit.  Every year, it's my favorite spot in the park…..and it has HUGE preschooler and family appeal.  From the cars characters in their costumes to the amazing details ALL over the place it's adorable.  There are signs, decorations, amazing lights…….it's magical.  And those mini Cars fans? They'll be in heaven (be sure that you catch Lightening McQueen in his costume)!

Haunted Mansion: If you've got a Nightmare Before Christmas obsessed kiddo like we do…….the Haunted Mansion at Halloween Time is a requirement.  From the custom gingerbread house in the dance hall, to spotting Zero the dog…….it's Lydia's favorite!

Fantasmic: This Halloween Time trip was our FIRST TIME seeing Fantasmic, can you believe that? I have no idea why we never watched it before, and now it's one of our favorite shows.  From the amazing lights to the projection mapping to see ALLLLLLL the characters, Lydia loved it and so did we!

Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first I’ve EVER attended (fun fact, when we came to Aulani 5 years ago we were supposed to and it was rained out). The night before on this trip, we had some storms and I thought….oh no, round 2? But……the Hawaiian sun did it’s job and the weather for this was PERFECT. To be honest, this was not cheap. I was a little apprehensive about whether I would feel it was worth the money but…..WOW was it ever. The food was amazing, there were really fun activities for kids at the beginning and the cultural performances were phenomenal. All three of us (including not wanting to spend even more $$$ vacation Robbie) left raving about the experience. Aulani wins for us so far on this trip that I’m so glad I booked in advance (highly suggest doing this as far out from your trip dates as you can)- the luau (try night 2 or 3 of your trip so you’ve had time to adjust to the time change)- Aunty’s Beach House (this is still at limited capacity so you DO need to book in advance, I booked a session for days 2, day 3, and day 4 and we’ve enjoyed having a bit of time each day)- character dining and prix fix dinner at Makahiki (we are one big meal each vacation day people, so DON’T book these the same day, I’d do character breakfast early on your first full day….you’ll wake up early with the time change and the dinner on whichever night you AREN’T doing the luau)Already dreaming of booking another trip here.

We LOVED the character breakfast (so many unique local food offerings) and the Disney Team treated us to the prix fix dinner our first night here….I can’t even begin to explain what a lovely experience it was. Killer cocktails, a GREAT kids’ menu and I had the best Ahi of my life. Now swipe all the way to end for an appearance from Vacation Robbie. We love to see it.And place your votes…..pick ONE treat.
Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had jus Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had just finished two years of grad school. And it had been a long, tough two years. That year involved one major teacher strike in my district, many many many jobs and gigs for both of us, minimal time off together, a whole lot of unknowns and a whole lot of stress. The Disney and Aulani team probably had no idea that they were giving us the gift of much needed peaceful time together when they invited us on a trip to this magical place. A trip that….to be honest, was beyond our means at the time. We cherished every moment. A lot has happened since then. A move, buying a house, seeing those years of hard work pay off. And now….we did it. We’re back. Lazy river here we come. TLDR? If you’re in the thick of it, I see you. We’ve been there. Family, Welcome Home……we did it. Aulani for the week.
Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled muscle? I should have known better. When training for my race, I didn’t stretch or warm up enough most days and….here we are.Lesson learned. I’m 4 weeks post race (do not recommend running a 10k on a pulled muscle) and I’m……almost better. I’m learning to stretch and walk and to take better care of myself so that I can start running again REALLY soon (we’re almost there I think). For now? I’m doing recovery walks and trying to strengthen my leg. And trying to make sure I get enough protein. When I talked about Built Bars on my stories, a LOTTTTT of you raced about their Puffs. Yup, I get it. They’re AMAZING. I’ve been bringing them along on my walks (and gluten free friends….they have some great options for us).Have you ever pulled a muscle? What was recovery like for you?#youGOTTAtrythis #BUILTProtein #BUILT #BUILTbar partner
💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zo 💕Double Tap when you see who we found at the zoo (and swipe to the end for a close up)⠀⠀🌴Coming to San Diego for Spring Break or a Summer Vacation?⠀⠀📍Let’s talk San Diego Zoo (and yes, I got off a plane yesterday, picked up Lydia and we spent the afternoon at the zoo…..it was LOVELY).⠀⠀A few things to help you plan visits to San Diego and the Zoo:⠀1️⃣ the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are NOT close together. The Zoo is close to downtown, the Safari Park is about 25 miles north. I’d suggest one day at each. They’re totally unique and both worth a visit. The Safari Park is smaller, but has REALLY unique exhibits (Walkabout Australia is my favorite).⠀2️⃣ both have some really fun and unique dining experiences that you can reserve in advance: Albert’s at the Zoo is a FANCY and fun sit down option, and The Watering Hole at Kijamii Overlook at the Safari Park is great for happy hour or a fun lunch ⠀3️⃣ there are great kids play areas at both locations, the Wildlife Explorers Base Camp area at the San Diego Zoo is brand new and absolutely amazing⠀⠀✨ Now, a bonus tip. Undercover Tourist now has NATIONWIDE savings on over 500 attractions in 50 cities and up to 25% on tickets for theme parks, zoo, museums, aquariums, city tours, water parks, and movie tickets. And the deals they have for San Diego? AMAZING (I’m sharing details in my stories).⠀⠀@themeparkfrog #UncoverSavingsNationwide #ad
