Amaretto Sour Jello Shots take a classic cocktail and turn it into a fun party shot everyone will love!
I don't know anyone that doesn't like an Amaretto Sour. It's one of those classic cocktails that's simple to make, doesn't kick you in the mouth with that first sip, and is easy to drink. Dangerously easy. Maybe that's why they're one of my go to cocktails when we're hanging out on the weekend with friends. Even in the cold of winter, I picture myself sitting on the patio with a cold cocktail in hand relaxing while the kids in the yard.
To make things a little for fun, I decided to turn my beloved Amaretto Sour into some unique jello shots! These shots are perfect for parties. One of my favorite things about them is that they're prepared ahead of time and I don't have to play bartender all night. Just set them out and let everyone help themselves. I served some for Super Bowl and they were gone SO fast. Don't worry, we had a good number of people over and everyone only had 1 or 2. Nothing crazy. Everyone wanted the recipe and here it is! Amaretto Sour Jello Shots

Yield: about 9 shots
1 envelope (1 tablespoon) unflavored gelatin powder
3/4 cup sweet and sour mix, divided
1/2 cup amaretto liqueur
2 tablespoons simple syrup
9 maraschino cherries, stems removed and rinsed
Nine 2-ounce plastic ramekins with lids
- Lay the plastic cups out in a single layer in a baking dish or on a cookie sheet. This makes it easy to transport them to and from the fridge.
- Place the gelatin in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Pour in 1/4 cup of sweet and sour mix. Whisk to combine. Set aside to let the gelatin absorb the liquid.
- In a small saucepan, heat the remaining 1/2 cup sweet and sour until just simmering.
- Pour the hot liquid over the gelatin mixture and whisk to combine until the gelatin is dissolved.
- Add the amaretto and simple syrup to the jello mixture and whisk to combine.
- Pour the jello mixture into each of the plastic cups. Do not fill the cups completely if you're planning to put a lid on them after the shots are done, about 3/4 full is good.
- Transfer the shots to the refrigerator. Chill for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until the shots begin to set. Once the shots are no longer liquidy, remove them from the fridge and place a cherry in the center of each shot and press down slightly so half the cherry is in the jello. Return the shots to the fridge for another 1-2 hours, or until the shots are completely set.
- If desired, place a lid on the shots to help keep them fresh and make transporting them easy.
