Looking to set up a great autumn skincare routine? This is my own current skincare regime……and so far, I’m absolutely loving it!
As the season changes, and the air gets crisp and cool……it’s time to switch skincare. Now the truth is, I’d been meaning to switch mine up for quite some time. I felt like it wasn’t really doing it for me. At age 41, I know it’s time to start pulling out the big guns when it comes to skincare. I have sensitive skin, rosacea, and while they’re not TERRIBLE…..I’ve definitely starting to see wrinkles and signs of aging. I decided it was time to do a autumn skincare overhaul. Yes, it was a bit pricey to do it all at once, but most of these products will last for quite some time.
I have to give a shoutout to my dear friend Jamie, she’s a skincare expert and professionally trained esthetician…..and she patiently answered my millions of questions about products and use (I can’t tell you how many times I asked her if the retinol she suggested would be too much for my sensitive skin…..spoiler, she was right……it was just fine).
Autumn Skincare: What I’m Trying
Now I’m going to preface this with, these are not bargain products. I decided that it was time to step it up, and to truly invest in my skincare. I will share on Instagram Stories when these brands have sales, because that’s a great time to snag these products for just a little less.
Tone: Common misconception: toners are only for oily skin or will dry your skin out. I’ve been using the FreshRose & Hyaluronic Acid Deep Hydration Toner (both morning and night). It’s hydrating and refreshes my skin plus prepares it for the serums and lotions I use after.
Eye Cream: Full disclosure, I avoided trying this eye cream. It’s pricey and I was hoping I’d hate it. But, OH MAN it’s the best I’ve tried in years. It’s great at fighting lines, bags and just firms up EVERYTHING. Darn it, it’s worth every penny.
Serum: Now here’s where I saw one of the biggest shifts in my skin within a few days. THIS SERUM. It’s from Farmacy Beauty, it’s a clean product and man has it made a difference for me. Very Cherry Bright is a Vitamin C serum (it also has hyaluronic acid). It brightens, firms and hydrates skin. I use two drops and it’s worth every penny.
Moisturize: Now, my skin is DRY as can be. And on aging skin? Dehydration is not a good look. I knew I needed a stronger, better moisturizer for day….and Honey Halo (also from Farmacy Beauty) has made a huge difference for me. My skin is hydrated, and visibly plumper (as in the lines show LESS).
SPF: Truth? I’m still on the hunt for an SPF that I love. If you have a recommendation….send it my way PLEASE!
Evening Autumn Skincare Routine and Products:
Cleanse: I’m not gonna lie, this might be my favorite new product in the whole routine. OMG Green Clean cleansing balm is AMAZING. Cleansing balms are great for dryer skin and this is literally the best one I’ve ever tried. It will leave your skin clean, hydrated (and bonus it’s clean and smells phenomenal).
Tone: Same toner as I use in the morning (this is a GREAT staple and worth the investment).
Eye Cream: Same as day, it’s AMAZING.
Retinol (every two nights to start with, then every other night): Not gonna lie, I was TERRIFIED of using Retinol. I know it’s amazing for fighting fine lines, but my skin is SO sensitive and reacts to everything. I was so nervous! This retinol? Plant based, clean and about as gentle as it gets. I started with using it every 2-3 nights, and will be working up to every other night. It’s really helping the appearance of fine lines and has been gentle on my skin!
Moisturize: Yes, we are at the age where I’m using a dedicated night cream. And this one? It’s GREAT. Sleep Tight is also from Farmacy Beauty. This balm hydrates and fights signs of aging overnight. I love that it’s clean, and it’s SUPER effective!
Marula Oil:Drunk Elephant’s Marula Oil has been a mainstay for me for a few years, and I LOVE it. It nourishes, hydrates and adds a GLOW to your skin. It’s the perfect final product at night.
