Struggling with dry skin? These are the winter skincare tips that are working for me!
HERE WE GO AGAIN. Every winter, around this time…..I realize that my skin is a mess. Winter weather can really wreak havoc on your skin (both face and body). Harsh cold weather is drying, so is pumped is heat. Never mind traveling, drinking and eating holiday foods and drinking less water….which we all do over the winter month.
This year, I decided to be proactive and to do some research on winter skincare tips that I could implement and hopefully help prevent that dry winter skin.
Winter Skincare Tips That Are Working For Me
Now, we do have some travel coming up……so I'm planning to double down on this tips. I know that airplane air is TERRIBLE on your skin, and that combined with the winter air? Dry skin is on the horizon. So far, these tips have been helping quite a bit (and bonus they're all fairly inexpensive and easy to try on your own).

Drink Water: I know, I know. It seems obvious right? We all know that drinking water is important for your health and that includes for the health of your skin. I have to be honest though, I'm terrible at it. I drink plenty of LIQUIDS but they're not water. So this year? I made an effort to carry a large water bottle around with me and to actually finish it each day. One thing that helped a ton? Bringing a water bottle on my runs. I guzzle water like crazy while exercising IF I have it available.
Use a Facial Serum: My skin is always dry…..and I know that facial serums help year round. I upped my facial serum game for the winter and it's helped a TON. What have I been using? A hyaluronic acid and marula oil. Yes, seriously, I'm oiling up…..but it's working. I also use a night cream (at night obviously) and a heavy facial moisturizer during the day. Now clearly, this is for extremely dry skin…..but it does feel like it is working for me.
Body Lotion with Lactic Acid: I talked about this over on Instagram, and I couldn't believe how many of you said that the body lotion I've been using was your favorite. I switched to Amlactin body lotion which contains lactic acid….and it's made a massive difference. This lotion gently exfoliates plus deeply hydrates. It's the only body lotion I've tried that got rid of those alligator scales on my legs in the winter.
Humidifier: The final tip I've been trying out? Using a humidifier at night. Look, I pump the heat in the winter (I blame my thyroid condition and the fact that I'm CONSTANTLY freezing). And heaters? Dry air. Which dries out your skin even more. So a humidifier? Helps a LOT.
All in all? These Winter skincare tips have helped a ton. Are you doing anything special for your skin this winter???
