Stitch Fix Review October 2016

Stitch Fix Review October 2016: What I loved, what I'm keeping, and what you should request (plus a giveaway)!

Stitch Fix Review October 2016 by Lipgloss and CrayonsIt's Stitch Fix Review time again!  Big decision at the end of this review.  Lately I've had mixed feelings about my Stitch Fix deliveries…….so I'm going to be switching things up a bit.  For this fix, I requested some pretty specific items.  I asked for fall colors, a pair of burgundy shoes, patterned pants, and great layering pieces.

In case you aren’t already a Stitch Fix nut…….a bit about the service: Stitch Fix is a personalized styling service that sends five pieces to your doorstep.  The great thing? When you join, you fill out an extensive styling profile.  You can request certain items or even ask for options for a specific event.  You choose how often you get a fix (for me it’s once a month).  In the comfort of your own home, you try on all items.  Then you keep what you love, and send back the rest…..and all with free shipping!  There is a $20 styling fee, but you can use that $20 as a credit towards any of the items you keep.  And YES, you can set a price range you feel comfortable with.  Stitch Fix Review October 2016 by Lipgloss and Crayons

What did I get in my October Stitch Fix delivery?

Stitch Fix Review October 2016

RD Style Tawny Open Drape Cardigan (size small, kept): This cardigan just screamed fall layering to me.  I love it.  The colors? The thickness? It's very flattering, and goes with EVERYTHING. Kept, and I've already worn it WAY too many times.

Stitch Fix Review October 2016 by Lipgloss and CrayonsMarket & Spruce Telane Faux Leather Detail Knit Top (size medium, returned): Ok, here's the thing.  The fit of this top? AWESOME.  But my stylist seemed to forget one major request….I wanted clothes for work.  This sheer portion of the top? Clearly not work appropriate and I hate layering camisoles under tops.  While I loved the cut of this, it just wasn't something I felt like I could wear very often.Stitch Fix Review October 2016 by Lipgloss and CrayonsPapermoon Ibiza Crochet Detail Top (size medium, returned): I wanted to love this top.  In theory, a washable blouse is perfect for my life.  However…..see the wrinkles? I steamed it right before I took these pictures.  This fabric wrinkles SO easily.  Plus, it hit at a funny length.  When I saw this on the hanger, I loved it.  In real life? Not so much.Stitch Fix Review October 2016 by Lipgloss and CrayonsLucky Brand Aviee Lace Up Flat (size 9 1/2, returned): So these flats were NOT the color I requested.  They were comfortable…..and I considered keeping them, but the loose lacing? Drove me crazy.  Flats are always a win in my book….but these just weren't quite right.

My last item? The Margaret M Sylvie Printed Straight Leg Pant.  I wish I could show them to you guys….but they didn't fit.  As in, I literally couldn't get them over my hips.

So, here's the deal.  Lately, I've been feeling as if my stylist and I aren't seeing eye to eye.  I've requested things, and receive stuff that I don't love.  So, I'll be trying out a NEW stylist next month.  Remember when I suggested trying a new stylist if you weren't loving your fixes? Yup, I'm doing it myself and I can't WAIT to see what I get next month!

What a great box, some of the items didn’t work out but I’m glad you kept the draped cardigan as it looked so good on you.

The first sweater is absolutely amazing! That’s such a good option! Those lace up flats do look a bit odd because of the loose laces. Hope your next stylist works out for you!

I LOVE the cardigan you kept! What a fun piece–that’s what I love about Stitch Fix, there are things I’ve gotten from them that I never see anywhere else. Bummer that the other things didn’t work out–I think it’s smart to try out a new stylist!

It’s a shame that there wasn’t a match for some of the items you requested, but that cardigan is absolutely gorgeous! Total win with that one.

I’ve heard a lot about Stitch Fix on the radio, and have been curious, but haven’t bitten the bullet yet.

I am going to echo what everyone else is saying about that awesome cardigan, that’s a great find. I also LOVE the pop of color that your earrings gave to the outfit. Good luck with your new stylist.

Just came across your post on Pinterest. I have two pairs of the Lucky Brand shoes and wear them weekly. All of the elastic goes in front- none in back, so they should actually pull snuggly. I even bought a pair for my mom. They may be worth a second try!

Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first Have you ever attended a luau? This was the first I’ve EVER attended (fun fact, when we came to Aulani 5 years ago we were supposed to and it was rained out). The night before on this trip, we had some storms and I thought….oh no, round 2? But……the Hawaiian sun did it’s job and the weather for this was PERFECT. To be honest, this was not cheap. I was a little apprehensive about whether I would feel it was worth the money but…..WOW was it ever. The food was amazing, there were really fun activities for kids at the beginning and the cultural performances were phenomenal. All three of us (including not wanting to spend even more $$$ vacation Robbie) left raving about the experience. Aulani wins for us so far on this trip that I’m so glad I booked in advance (highly suggest doing this as far out from your trip dates as you can)- the luau (try night 2 or 3 of your trip so you’ve had time to adjust to the time change)- Aunty’s Beach House (this is still at limited capacity so you DO need to book in advance, I booked a session for days 2, day 3, and day 4 and we’ve enjoyed having a bit of time each day)- character dining and prix fix dinner at Makahiki (we are one big meal each vacation day people, so DON’T book these the same day, I’d do character breakfast early on your first full day….you’ll wake up early with the time change and the dinner on whichever night you AREN’T doing the luau)Already dreaming of booking another trip here.

We LOVED the character breakfast (so many unique local food offerings) and the Disney Team treated us to the prix fix dinner our first night here….I can’t even begin to explain what a lovely experience it was. Killer cocktails, a GREAT kids’ menu and I had the best Ahi of my life. Now swipe all the way to end for an appearance from Vacation Robbie. We love to see it.And place your votes…..pick ONE treat.
Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had jus Five years ago. This exact place. Robbie had just finished two years of grad school. And it had been a long, tough two years. That year involved one major teacher strike in my district, many many many jobs and gigs for both of us, minimal time off together, a whole lot of unknowns and a whole lot of stress. The Disney and Aulani team probably had no idea that they were giving us the gift of much needed peaceful time together when they invited us on a trip to this magical place. A trip that….to be honest, was beyond our means at the time. We cherished every moment. A lot has happened since then. A move, buying a house, seeing those years of hard work pay off. And now….we did it. We’re back. Lazy river here we come. TLDR? If you’re in the thick of it, I see you. We’ve been there. Family, Welcome Home……we did it. Aulani for the week.
Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled Now, if I’m being totally honest…..this pulled muscle? I should have known better. When training for my race, I didn’t stretch or warm up enough most days and….here we are.Lesson learned. I’m 4 weeks post race (do not recommend running a 10k on a pulled muscle) and I’m……almost better. I’m learning to stretch and walk and to take better care of myself so that I can start running again REALLY soon (we’re almost there I think). For now? I’m doing recovery walks and trying to strengthen my leg. And trying to make sure I get enough protein. When I talked about Built Bars on my stories, a LOTTTTT of you raced about their Puffs. Yup, I get it. They’re AMAZING. I’ve been bringing them along on my walks (and gluten free friends….they have some great options for us).Have you ever pulled a muscle? What was recovery like for you?#youGOTTAtrythis #BUILTProtein #BUILT #BUILTbar partner

The Zoo is close to downtown, the Safari Park is about 25 miles north. I’d suggest one day at each. They’re totally unique and both worth a visit. The Safari Park is smaller, but has REALLY unique exhibits (Walkabout Australia is my favorite).⠀2️⃣ both have some really fun and unique dining experiences that you can reserve in advance: Albert’s at the Zoo is a FANCY and fun sit down option, and The Watering Hole at Kijamii Overlook at the Safari Park is great for happy hour or a fun lunch ⠀3️⃣ there are great kids play areas at both locations, the Wildlife Explorers Base Camp area at the San Diego Zoo is brand new and absolutely amazing⠀⠀✨ Now, a bonus tip. Undercover Tourist now has NATIONWIDE savings on over 500 attractions in 50 cities and up to 25% on tickets for theme parks, zoo, museums, aquariums, city tours, water parks, and movie tickets. And the deals they have for San Diego? AMAZING (I’m sharing details in my stories).⠀⠀@themeparkfrog #UncoverSavingsNationwide #ad
