Stitch Fix Review: August 2016

Stitch Fix Review August 2016: What I loved, what I'm keeping, and what you should request (plus a giveaway)!
Stitch Fix Review | August 2016 | Lipgloss and Crayons

Sniff, tear……this is my last Stitch Fix review of the summer.  Yup, as I filled out my feedback and packed up the items I was returning…..I realized my next Stitch Fix delivery will arrived once school is in session.  Did that change what I'll be requesting for next month? YUP.  I let my stylist know I wanted casual work separates……and gave some specifics (dolman tops, light blouses that hit at the hip, colored pants, and dresses that are elementary school teacher appropriate).

If you read last week's post about what to do when you don't LOVE your Stitch Fix…..then you know my Stitch Fix Review for August is going to be a bit mixed.  There were pieces I loved, and pieces that made me scratch my head a bit! Stitch Fix Review | August 2016 | Lipgloss and Crayonswhatiwore

Stitch Fix Review | August 2016 | Lipgloss and CrayonsIn case you aren’t already a Stitch Fix nut…….a bit about the service: Stitch Fix is a personalized styling service that sends five pieces to your doorstep.  The great thing? When you join, you fill out an extensive styling profile.  You can request certain items or even ask for options for a specific event.  You choose how often you get a fix (for me it’s once a month).  In the comfort of your own home, you try on all items.  Then you keep what you love, and send back the rest…..and all with free shipping!  There is a $20 styling fee, but you can use that $20 as a credit towards any of the items you keep.  And YES, you can set a price range you feel comfortable with.

So…..what did I get this month?Stitch Fix Review | August 2016 | Lipgloss and Crayons

Stitch Fix Review August 2016

Wisp Sheree Dress ($108): This dress.  I seriously couldn't love it anymore.  The print, the cut.  It's amazingly flattering, and I love the bright colors.  I can wear it now with sandals, and in the fall with booties and a jean jacket.  I kept it ( and it takes a LOT for me to keep anything that costs more than $100)!

Fun2Fun Kaur Dolman Sleeve Top ($48): I wanted to love this top.  But somehow, it was all wrong on me.  It was a little too short, and I wasn't in love with the print. It went back, I'm sure someone will love it….it just wasn't for me.

Market & Spruce Kristah Ruffle Knit Blazer ($78): Disclaimer, I am NOT a blazer person.   I know, as a teacher….you totally picture me wearing blazers.  I think my stylist did too.  And, I think they're a great year round staple.  Somehow, I've bought a couple over the years and they never get worn.  I will say, this one fit like a dream and had the cutest ruffles on the back.  If I was a blazer person…..I totally would have kept it.

Loveappella Tavares Knit Top ($48): I love stripes.  And this striped top is totally my style. In fact, I have it in another color.  And I own something VERY similar from another brand.  If I didn't own about a million striped tops, I would have kept this one.

DV8 Darma Fringe Ankle Strap Sandal ($65): Orange is the perfect color for transitioning to fall.  And I could totally see wearing these sandals with dresses now, and a pencil skirt once the weather cools down a bit.  But, I'm on sandal overload.  I have so many pairs of sandals, that I just couldn't justify keeping one more pair.

That dress is really gorgeous and fits like a dream, for sure! And I do love the coral sandals and striped shirt, too. But I hear you on having too many sandals and striped shirts already!

great dress and looks stunning on you, Those sandals would have been so tempting to keep. The blazer is perfection and as a blazer person I think I would have had to keep it

Of all the pieces you got, the dress is my favorite, so I’m glad that’s the one you kept! I love the colors and the cut on you–great choice!

The way I laughed out loud when I spotted this lit The way I laughed out loud when I spotted this little area during our day at Knott’s Berry Farm……. (teachers, you get it right?!?)I mean, HAD TO TAKE A PHOTO (or 20). This weekend was the start of Peanuts Celebration at Knott’s Berry Farm and we spent a day immersed in all things Snoopy. From the rides in Camp Snoopy to the adorable new shows to the ACTUAL PIGS in Pigpen’s Pig Pen there was so much to do…..I’m so glad that Knott’s invited us to check it all out! Now, who is YOUR favorite Peanuts character? (Lydia’s is Sally, she’s actually playing her in a school play TODAY — the timing, right?) @knottsberryfarm #knottspeanutscelebration
✨ Happy 100th Disney!✨⠀ ⠀ 💜The people a ✨ Happy 100th Disney!✨⠀⠀💜The people are the magic. Yesterday was filled with friends and food and fun and feet (sore ones after walking around from dawn to way past dusk)…….and as Lydia and I tucked ourselves into bed last night……I felt so much gratitude. Our happy place has brought so much joy into our lives and so many people that enrich each moment.⠀⠀✨The Disney 100 Celebration will be happening ALL YEAR, and I feel like we still have so much to see and do.⠀⠀💜Favorite Moments and Experiences from our day one of Disney 100:⠀🚂riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad: I avoided ALLLLLL spoilers (there are some in this carousel btw), and had seen NONE of the attraction until we stepped into the queue…. it was absolutely adorable and I can’t WAIT to ride it again, plus when we exited the ride…..some of the team that created it were at the exit and seeing their smiles? ABSOLUTE DISNEY MAGIC.⠀🌅seeing the sun rise over the castle bright and early⠀💕running into friends every 5 minutes, it felt like a giant reunion⠀👗characters in their costumes, not going to lie….we didn’t wait in lines for them….they were length, but we gave a wave as we walked by and they looked stunning⠀⠀✨When is your next Disney trip???
🏰Dreaming of Dancing in Front of the Castle for 🏰Dreaming of Dancing in Front of the Castle for Spring Break?🏰⠀⠀📷A few castle photo tips:⠀1️⃣side, not center……both sides of the castle have lovely little spots that provide a great view of the castle and moat, but avoid the crowd (plus you can get some nice flattering light into the mid morning or in the late afternoon)⠀2️⃣want to be closer to the front? Sit on the back of the benches built into the moat entrance, you’ll be a bit elevated, it gives a great angle and a better view of the castle herself ⠀3️⃣if you REALLY want that walking into the castle shot…..this is something you can do during early entry time if you are staying on property ⠀⠀🧳Now, let’s talk Spring Break tips in collaboration with @themeparkfrog :⠀🚨This is IT. Red alert. If you’re hoping to visit the Happiest Place on Earth for Spring Break….BOOK IT NOW. Spring Break is around the corner, and the more you plan, the happier you’ll be (trust me).⠀⠀To do (in order):⠀1️⃣book your hotel, theme park tickets and rental car: for the best deal, you can do this as a bundle with Undercover Tourist (you’ll save a TON this way….I’m sharing more in stories)⠀2️⃣once you have your trip dates….book dining. At Disneyland you can book 60 days in advance (which means, NOW and coming up very soon for Spring Break).⠀3️⃣ If you want to do something special like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, you can ALSO book that 60 days in advance.⠀⠀✨So, are you ready? Blue skies, sunshine, and Disney Magic guaranteed. What are YOUR spring break plans?
