msg 4 21+: How great is this sangria tasting party? I can't wait to try each sangria recipe, they're perfect for a spring bridal shower or bachelorette party! #ArtOfEntertaining #ad As y’all know, we’re all about the Art of Entertaining these days.  Babysitters are crazy expensive, and once you add drinks with friends to the cost…..nights at a bar just aren’t on our regular agenda.  So, we have our friends over for nights in.  This weekend, I teamed up with Estancia to throw a sangria tasting party.  It was honestly the easiest party I’ve thrown since we moved into our house, and the sangria recipes were a HUGE hit!msg 4 21+: How great is this sangria tasting party? I can't wait to try each sangria recipe, they're perfect for a spring bridal shower or bachelorette party! #ArtOfEntertaining #ad Estancia Wines are some of my favorites……they’re delicious, and a total steal.  High quality wine for a great price? I mean, it doesn’t get better than that. To prep for our sangria tasting party, I decided to use three different wines to create three distinctive sangria recipes. FYI, people asked a million times which wine was in each….so I highly suggest placing the bottles by your sangria for reference. Other than the sangria, we served a simple cheese to compliment each sangria flavor.  Easy enough right?

Sangria is a make ahead drink, in fact…..I suggest making it a few hours in advance and letting it chill in your fridge.  The flavors blend, and you can relax and enjoy your party.  Such a win!

Peach Sangria:

1 bottle of Estancia Cabernet Sauvignon

1 60 ounce bottle of peach juice

1 bottle of sparkling water

frozen strawberries

Cheese Pairing: Apricot Stilton

Cucumber Mint Sangria:

1 bottle of Estancia Chardonnay

1 bottle of sparkling water

2 sliced cucumbers

1 package of mint leaves

Cheese Pairing: Truffle Cheese

Strawberry Lemonade Sangria:

1 bottle of Estancia Pinot Noir

1 pitcher of strawberry lemonade (1 frozen can worth)

1 bottle of sparkling water

frozen cherries

Cheese Pairing: Smoked Gouda msg 4 21+: How great is this sangria tasting party? I can't wait to try each sangria recipe, they're perfect for a spring bridal shower or bachelorette party! #ArtOfEntertaining #ad Decor Tips:

-Use what you’ve got! These mason jars have been hanging around since our wedding.  I added some burlap and ribbon and voila!

-Keep a basic white tablecloth on hand.  We’ve used this one a million times, it washes well and looks a LOT nicer than a plastic tablecloth.

-A table runner adds a lot.  I bought a roll of burlap for this party, used it for the table runner and also to make our Cheers Y’all banner.  It cost less than $15…….and totally made the tablescape!msg 4 21+: How great is this sangria tasting party? When Cole and I were in Spain, we did a cooking class that taught us how to make seafood paella and make our own sangria. It was SO fun, and I’m sad to admit that I haven’t tried making it since. I totally need to, though, because the strawberry lemonade sangria sounds AMAZING!

📣What conversations with your kids are you gear 📣What conversations with your kids are you gearing up to have? 📣⠀
📣Let’s be honest......there are conversation topics that as parents we all know we need to bring up. From body changes to the birds and the bees to underage drinking.....as our kids get older, we’ve got a lot to tackle. And I get it, unless you happen to be a 15 years in the classroom teacher like me....this probably isn’t something you have experience with (plus, trust me....it’s a whole other ball game with your OWN kids). ⠀
⠀
📣I’m excited to team up with my friends at Responsibility.org to talk to YOU about having those talks with your family. This month is Alcohol Responsibility Month, and it’s the PERFECT time to start an ongoing dialog around underage drinking.⠀
⠀
📣 A few tips for having those ongoing conversations with your kids:⠀
⠀
📢Be human. It’s ok to not know all the answers. Your job? To lead with love and openness, and to use resources and experts to find the answers.⠀
⠀
📢Know that these are ongoing conversations. Hard topics aren’t a one and done type of dialog. As your children grow up, and have new experiences, you’ll have more conversations.⠀
⠀
📢Facts and Data are more effective than scare tactics. For discussions about Underage Drinking, I love Ask, Listen, Learn as a resource for parents and teachers. It addresses brain development, and has some REALLY cool videos and interactive tools for kids in grades 4-7.⠀
⠀
📣I’m sharing more tips and resources over on the blog today.

🌴These happy faces? Are because we spent the day lounging by the pool instead of hiding from loud machines. If you follow along on our stories, you know that we came home from a trip to Bass Lake and Yosemite LAST week to…..WATER EVERYWHERE. It’s all still being sorted out, but…..in the meantime there are some very big and loud machines starting the process of removing the water from our floors / cabinets and downstairs area. ⠀
⠀
🌴So when we had the chance to do a little staycation at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach after our Touch of Disney day…….CLEARLY it was a YES. This was my first time to this property, and it won’t be the last. Three pools, super close to a ton of fun activities (18 miles from Disneyland, and an 8 minute drive from the Lido Marina Village), plus they’ve got a GREAT dinner option and a coffee shop in the morning. This was JUST what we needed, now I’m just busy plotting ways to stay longer.⠀
⠀
🌴Have you done an emergency home renovation? Did you stay? Because, I’m about to vote for us just taking up residence at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach until all work is done. You support this choice, right? ⠀
