From dimpled thighs to stretch marks to the smudges in my natural sunscreen……..I'm sharing what I want my daughter to see when I ditch the cover up at the beach.
This post about natural thighs and natural sunscreen is sponsored by Blue Lizard.
Let's talk about beach days. Are you cringing? Or searching for a cover up that……covers it all? I get it. Look, let's be real. I'm approaching 40 at a rapid pace. I'm not a size zero. I do work out, but I'm certainly not the pinnacle of fitness. I've got stretch marks and dimples in my thighs. All of these things are exactly what kept me from wearing a suit to the beach for years (or hiding in a cover up).
But you guys know my story. I JUST GOT OVER IT. From beaches to pool days (to even our first cruise coming up next month)……I'm spending this summer in a bathing suit. And a HUGE part of it? The message I want to send to Lydia.
Lydia was the driving force behind my whole Just Wear The Suit personal revolution. Because the truth is…..how could I teach self confidence if I didn't have it? How could I tell her all body types were beautiful when I was cursing my own? What was I telling her if I verbally said it was ok to have thick thighs but then hide them every time we went to the beach? I had to walk the walk. Talking the talk wasn't enough here.
These pictures are from one of my favorite beach days the first week of summer vacation. And there are two things that stand out. One, we had a BLAST. We actually stayed at the beach ALL day. And my biggest concern? That we'd get sunburned. MAN, was that a shift from years past. I didn't worry about if the random people on the towel 20 feet away were silently chuckling at the size of my thighs. I didn't wrap a towel around my waist to walk to the waves. In fact, the only time I thought about my thighs at all? Was when I reapplied my natural sunscreen to them. And it felt AMAZING.
Quick piece of advice: whether you're wearing a cover up or at the point where you're baring it all……this natural sunscreen was a TOTAL home run. Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen was created in Australia, and stands up to the severe sun there with a totally natural sunscreen and mineral based formula. One thing I LOVE about Blue Lizard Sunscreen (besides that it's on Amazon)? The bottle turns from white to blue in the presence of harmful UV rays – reminding you to cover up…..and trust me, part of the reason we didn't burn after hours in the sun? Every time I spotted that blue bottle? I was reminded to reapply!

So what do YOU think? Are you ready to ditch the cover up (and apply a TON of natural sunscreen) this summer?
