Mom Fashion: Fall boots that look adorable, are SUPER comfortable, and make a difference. The Root Collective Boot Collection is a fall wardrobe staple!
Is it weird that I’m obsessed with seeing other people’s daily schedules? Probably because ours is so nutty. I love seeing when they work, when they have downtime, when they see their children, etc.
Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of……”You work FULL TIME and run this blog? How do you do that?” To be transparent…..some days I feel like it’s nuts. This little blog has turned into a full blown business with full blown responsibilities. And that requires time. So my answer? Segmenting my time. I joke all the time that our schedule as a family is like a house of cards, and I dread the day one card falls!
I wanted to share an average day in my boots (see what I did there?).

A few notes: my husband is a full time working professional musician AND is in graduate school full time. So his hours, and mine…..are a little nontraditional. He also has a killer commute most mornings….thus the early start to our days. I work full time as an intervention coordinator in a school close to our house, and Lydia is in a preschool / daycare program for the second year.
A (week)Day in Our Boots:
5:30 am – alarm goes off, stumble out of bed and straight to the Keurig….my husband is already awake and getting ready for work
6:00 am – husband leaves, Lydia is still sleeping….I get dressed and ready for school
6:30 am – I wake Lydia up, her breakfast is already prepared….we eat together
6:45 am – Lydia gets dressed in the outfit we selected the night before, we pack the car
6:55 am – Leave the house, drive to Lydia’s school….listen to the Frozen soundtrack the whole way.
7:10 am – Drop Lydia off at school, check in with her teachers, hug goodbye
7:15 – 7:35 am – Drive BACK past our house and to my school, each morning I have a 20 minute check in call with my dear blogging friend…..we chat about social media, blog post ideas, our kids…….it’s one of the highlights of my day.
7:35 am – Arrive at school, check in with the office and assist children until the bell rings on the yard.
7:55 am – School day begins…..along with two TAs we service approximately 100 children in small groups each day who are two years behind in language arts.
9:45 am – 10:05 am – recess…..my first opportunity to check emails and respond
10:05 am – 12:25 pm – more small group teaching
12:25 – 1:15 pm – Lunch Break…..I respond to more emails, eat with my teacher friends, and begin my blog post for the next day.
1:15 pm – 2:23 pm – more small group teaching
2:23 pm – 3:00 pm – prepare classroom for the next day of teaching
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Stay at school, finish blog post for the next day and respond to emails.
4:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Go for a short run or take conference calls, have meetings regarding blog business. Once a week this is when Lydia and I meet our photographers to take pictures.
5:00 pm – On a non-photo shoot day, this is Lydia’s pick up time…..we head straight home most days.
5:30 pm – 6:30 pm – Downtime together….lately Lydia has been Disney obsessed….so we watch Disney classics (The Little Mermaid is her current fav). I prep an easy dinner while she watches.
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Dinner and play time. We do art projects, build with blocks, and play with Lydia’s dolls.
7:35 pm – Bathtime for Lydia, story and bedtime (you can see our full night time routine HERE).
8:05 pm – 8:45 pm – Finish and publish blog post, work on emails, post an Instagram picture.
8:45 pm – Husband arrives home (unless he has a recording session, then it’s midnight). We chat for 20 minutes or so while he eats.
9:15 pm – Prep for the next day.
Rinse, repeat.
Seems a little crazy, right? Thank goodness for summer vacation and winter break!

So tell me mamas, what does a day in YOUR boots look like? Be sure to read on to hear more about the amazing Root Collective boots I’m wearing in these pictures…..they do amazing work, and they’re pretty darn cute!
Now, one more thing. Molly and I are teaming up to do more than host our link up. We are teaming up to share brands that we love……brands that give back. Each week we’ll be collaborating with one of our favorite brands to share the cause they support, and their amazing products.
This week we are teaming up with The Root Collective. You’ve seen the Root Collective around these parts before…..they’re an amazing company that teams up with artisans in several countries to make the cutest shoes you’ve ever seen (and man, are they comfortable)! Each and every Root Collective purchase changes lives by providing jobs with fair pay, kind labor practices, and adorable footwear as a result.
Today we are sharing the Root Collective’s stunning new fall booties. They’ve been mom and teacher tested, and we can both attest to the fact that they’re wearable ALL DAY LONG. Yup, they survived our too much time on your feet tests!
Want to see Molly’s take on the Root Collective? Check out her post!
If YOU have a post (new or old) that features a brand that give back…..please include it in the link up. We’d LOVE to see it!
This week, we are loving:

Seriously Carly, this is super woman/momma schedule. I really admire and respect moms who have a full time job and still manages to run a successful blog, which is why I have my monthly Posh Mom Chats segment where I interview them on how they do it and etc…I’d love to do one with you as well!! You look beautiful, the jeans has amazing color and those boots are def comfortable and chic at the same time. Happy Halloween! I can’t wait to see what you and Lydia dress up as.

I love reading about other people’s days and routines- thanks for sharing! I recently did a post about what a day in our lives looks like when I am in the hospital with my son. The link to read that post is here, if you would like to read! https://lemonstoneblog.wordpress.com/2016/11/26/a-day-in-the-life-hospital-edition/
