⠀ 💦Let’s go ahead and dive in: what is one ⠀
💦Let’s go ahead and dive in: what is one thing you are doing for YOURSELF this year?💦⠀
⠀
🛁Happy New Year friends. Look, I’m not a huge resolutions person. Hardcore promises or epic changes we are leaping to make for the first four weeks? Then most people fall off and feel awful. I’m all about small and steady commitments. Adjustments towards a longer term goal.⠀
⠀
💦The ones I’m working on right now?⠀
-better boundaries around this little app ⠀
-adding in strength training (no need to go crazy or anything, but I know it’s important for my overall health)⠀
-working on strengthening friendships here in San Diego (clearly the last year hasn’t exactly helped with that, and has put a damper on building community in our new city….but I definitely can make more of an effort)⠀
-being of service to YOU guys, I’m working on some fun projects that I can’t wait to share that are purely to support our community here (first one is coming sunday night, whoooo hooooo!)⠀
⠀
🛁Your turn!
🌱What if instead of rigid resolutions we focuse 🌱What if instead of rigid resolutions we focused on growth?🌱⠀
⠀
🌿When I was teaching, we talked a ton about having a fixed versus a growth mindset. In a jist? Let’s say we were looking at a group of kids and our goal was to help them become better readers. ⠀
⠀
🌱A fixed mindset looked at a classroom and would say “By the end of the year, every child will be reading at grade level.” The intention was usually good, to help struggling readers get to where they were “supposed to be”. But the problem? In life? We don’t all have the same starting line. So that amount of growth for some kids was easy and for some was not only impossible but it demeaned any growth they DID make. Studies show how discouraging this is. ⠀
⠀
🌿A growth mindset? Small, measurable steps. It’s about making progress more than a specific fixed end result. “At the end of the semester, each child will be reading 10 words a minute faster than they are right now.” We took them from where they were, and focused on small steps forward.⠀
⠀
🌱So my question? Why aren’t we doing that for ourselves? Why are our “resolutions” about losing weight instead of “I’ll wake up everyday and move my body in a way that feels healthy and fulfilling” or “I’ll fuel my body with food that helps it perform it’s best (and I’ll have cookies every now and then because I like them)? Why don’t we focus on the process and how it makes us feel instead of the random end result we’ve been told is the definition of success?⠀
⠀
🌿My own assignment this New Year’s (and yours too)……growth over goals. Process over perfection. Health (mental and physical) over random numbers. Let’s make 2021 the year we take care of ourselves and each other.
🌸How crunchy are you on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 be 🌸How crunchy are you on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being full blown hippie)?🌸⠀
⠀
🌸<maty’s partner> I’m going to give myself a 2 to 3. I’m definitely not your typical crunchy mom……but one of the things I truly care about? Using products I know and trust with Lydia. We’ve used Maty’s products since she was a baby ( I even use the Vapor Rub myself when I’m in need of immune support)…..and I love that they never include petroleum, hydrogenated oils, fragrances, flavors or color additives.⠀
⠀
🌸Truth is, when your baby (ok, or your big kid…..sorry Lydia) isn’t at their best…….you don’t have time to research and compare. For me? I love knowing that I have take care of her items ready in case we need them.⠀

❤️ Love Your Body As You Learn to Like It ❤️⠀
⠀
🧡I’ll say it again. LOVE YOUR BODY AS YOU LEARN TO LIKE IT.⠀
⠀
💛After 41 years of society teaching me to criticize my curves, the number on the scale, my wrinkles and stretch marks, the size on the label, my lack of a thigh gap……I’d be lying if I said I wake up everyday thinking I look great. I’d be lying if I said that there aren’t days where I google “how to lose ten pounds in a month”. I’d be lying if I said that I felt 100% confident each and everyday. It’s a journey, it’s a process, and some days are easier than others.⠀
⠀
💚But, one thing I know? Loving my body will teach me to like it. Listening to when movement brings me joy, and when I need to rest is loving my body. Eating when I’m hungry is loving my body. Sleeping in and taking baths and appreciating all she has carried me through is loving my body. We’ve been on a journey together, and you know what? The more I love her…..the more I like her.⠀
⠀
💙Reminder to y’all and myself of this as our feeds are flooded with resolutions. Maybe ours can be to LOVE and LIKE ourselves.
🎄 What is on YOUR Christmas Wishlist? 🎄⠀
⠀
🎁YOURS. I feel like so often this time of year, a lot of us are busy making the magic and forgetting to let it happen to us too. Reminder: wishing, dreaming, and wanting something isn’t selfish. You can give AND receive. ⠀
⠀
🎄So mine? A hotel room for a night alone (sorry Robbie and Lydia, I love you but boy does that sound heavenly), news that Disneyland is opening, and a pour over coffee pitcher (I’ve been dying to try one!).⠀
⠀
🎁Now you, yes this is an exercise in…….thinking about yourself too. ⠀

🤎#ad Icing or No Icing? 🤎⠀ ⠀ 🤎I’m e 🤎#ad Icing or No Icing? 🤎⠀
⠀
🤎I’m excited to team up with @Lactaid to settle the great gingerbread cookie debate......do you eat yours plain? Or with icing? Historically I’ve opted for no icing and part of the reason? I was avoiding extra cream that upset my stomach. So, I don’t know where I’ve been because this year, we are making royal icing with LACTAID. This solves the whole debate because LACTAID is 100% real milk, just without the lactose. The icing is easy on my stomach and....delish (most of it even made it onto the cookies instead of straight to our tummies).⠀
⠀
🤎Swipe for the recipe we used.⠀
⠀
🤎And.....don’t forget...... LACTAID is perfect to leave out with the cookies just in case Santa has a sensitive stomach!⠀
