We all have THAT moment as a mom. The one you look back on and laugh…..but at the time, you totally hit a wall.
This mom life story is written in partnership with Awestruck.
“It takes a village.”
“Ask for help.”
“We’re all here for you.”
“Do you need anything?”
I’m a “I can do it myself” type of person. Always have been and always will be. My mom swears that on my first day of preschool while all the other kids clung to their parents that I informed her she was welcome to leave, and that I was fine. Apparently that stuck with me into adulthood. I’ve always jumped into new situations with reckless abandon, I even moved to Los Angeles on a whim.
While I was pregnant, we found out that my husband would be gone for about six weeks when our daughter was six months old. This period of time (June mostly) was right after I finished my first two months back at work after maternity leave, and was just as my summer vacation began. What did that mean? No childcare…..I was off for the summer.
But, I figured…….how bad could it be? I’m a credentialed teacher. I manage classrooms of 34 children with EASE. Obviously I’d be able to manage one small baby. RIGHT?
