Looking for Age Appropriate Chores for Preschoolers? We're sharing 7 chores that any preschooler can do to help you around the house!
This is a sponsored post with Bounty. All opinions are my own.
Can we talk Age Appropriate Chores? Now that Lydia is approaching age five (omg how did THAT happen)….we're trying to give her more responsibility around the house. She's not QUITE up to making her own meals or doing her own laundry (although that's COMING)…..but she's loved being able to contribute with a few simple chores.
I think it's REALLY important that she learns to help around the house, and that we teach her that all members of our family can contribute (plus, I'm not gonna lie….I love handing off some of these simple tasks).
A quick tip: We've stocked up on the new Bounty Quick-Size Paper Towel roll….which is available on Amazon. Lydia uses these paper towels for a ton of her chores so we keep a roll on a lower shelf that she can easily access. Bounty is currently offering a $5 savings on a Family 16ct Pack, so be sure to use code 5QUICKBOUNTY when you check out on Amazon!

Age Appropriate Chores for Preschoolers
Setting the Table: Setting the table was Lydia's FIRST chore (and we started with plastic plates and glasses). Now we use the real ones. I set the dishes, silverware and cups out on our kitchen counter. She sets each place, along with a Bounty Quick-Size Paper Towel to use as a napkin.
Putting Away Toys: Should be obvious right? We set a timer for about ten minutes at the end of every evening, and ALL TOYS get put away.
Shoes Back in Closets: My pet peeve. We all take our shoes off when we get home, and they end up all over the house. Lydia loves going on a shoe hunt and putting everyone's shoes away (and MOST of the time they end up in the correct closets).
Getting the Mail: Silliest thing, but I hate getting the mail. My hands are always full of stuff when I get home. And Lydia loves running down the driveway to get letters and packages out of our mailbox (plus she's finally tall enough to reach it)!
Matching Socks: I fold the laundry. Lydia pairs up the socks. It's adorable to see her spread them ALL over our dining room table to find matches.
Wiping Up Spills and Messes: Another reason I keep our Bounty Quick-Size Paper Towel roll at Lydia's height. She's in charge of wiping up her own spills and messes. And at this point? Doesn't even need prompting.
Wiping Down the Dining Room Table: We try to wipe down our dining room table after each meal. These days, I spray it with our non-toxic cleanser…….then Lydia grabs a Bounty Quick-Size Paper Towel off the roll and wipes it clean. It's quick, easy and something she loves to do!
