Teacher Outfit: School is back in session, and as much as I'd love to wear shorts and sandals everyday….probably not the BEST idea. I'm sharing simple outfit tips for great teacher clothes and what staples you'll wear all school year!
Summer vacation is officially over. In fact, I'm writing this post from my classroom desk and it's about an hour after dismissal. My husband laughed this weekend, as he watched me switch from “summer Carly” to “teacher Carly”. And one of the things I switched? The clothes in my closet. This is my 14th year teaching, and I've finally realized that the clothes I wear during summer break? Might as well be put in storage once the school year starts.
Today, I'm sharing a few simple teacher outfit tips. Hopefully these help my fellow teachers out there as they embark on a new school year (because us teachers like our back to school outfits too)!
Teacher Outfits (things to buy and things to NEVER wear):
Flats: ALWAYS flats. I love a good heel or wedge sandal. But let me tell you, 8 hours on your feet? There's no way any of us will make it in anything but comfortable shoes.
Invest in Great Basics: Denim and nice tee shirts. I rotate between a couple striped tees and a few solid colors. Dark denim jeans, a couple colored pairs, and I'm set. They are great for sitting on the carpet, recess, and still look professional. It's easy to add a blazer, cardigan, or jewelry to stay trendy.
Layers: One thing about schools? The temperature varies greatly. Classrooms tend to be on the colder side, and yard duty in August? It's 104 degrees at my school today. I actually keep THIS blazer in my classroom now, so I can throw it on when needed.
Accessories: Earrings, necklaces, cute belts…….they'll put a little pep in your step and a little pizazz into your outfit.
A few of my favorite brands: Kendra Scott for fun statement pieces, Nickel and Suede for amazing lightweight leather earrings
This blazer and tee are both from my August Stitch Fix. You can see the full Stitch Fix Review August 2016 and learn more about Stitch Fix HERE.So teachers, what are your favorite pieces to wear to school?
