Hello hustle and bustle. Hello packed calendar. Hello overbooking. Yup, I'm a notorious overbooker when it comes to the holiday season. My poor husband, it drives him insane. I inevitably say yes when I should say no. I rsvp yes to every single holiday party and then leave no time to enjoy, let alone get ready for those parties. So, this year I'm making an effort to ENJOY the holiday parties we do attend. How? By not overbooking, and by spending a little time using some simple winter beauty tips. When I feel like I look my best…..I know that I enjoy getting dolled up for those parties!
5 Simple Winter Beauty Tips
Hydrate: Dry skin in the winter is the WORST. It feels itchy, and makes your makeup look horrible. Who wants flakey skin and foundation? Somehow, because it's not hot…..I always forget to hydrate in the winter. It's just as important as it is in the summer! Drink a minimum of 6 glasses of water a day…..your skin will thank you!
Wash Your Face: I know. With all these late night celebrations, all you want to do is crawl into bed when you get home, right? Take 30 seconds and WASH your face. Not removing that party makeup will clog your pores. Then you have a real issue on your hands. If you're worried you won't do it…..keep makeup wipes next to the bed. Then there's really no excuse!
Exfoliate: Dull skin is a common issue in the winter. Remember to exfoliate a few times a week ( I do it once a day with a gentle scrub) so that those dry skin cells are removed…..and your skincare products can do their best work!
Moisturize: Dry skin will ruin your whole holiday party look…..so be sure you're using a GREAT moisturizer! My current fav? RoC® RETINOL CORREXION® Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30. Why? IT WORKS. First of all, sunscreen is just as important in the winter as it is in the summer. So that's always a requirement for me when searching for face lotion. Plus, I love that it contains Retinol. After 8 weeks of use, those sad little wrinkles looked much less obvious! I use this moisturizer each morning…..and it's made a huge difference.
Don't Experiment: At every holiday party….there's at least one woman who went buckwild at the makeup counter. She bought every new shade in anticipation of holiday party season and totally overdid her face. It's never pretty. For holiday makeup, keep it simple and classic. A nude lip and smokey eyes? Always a win. A bold lip and very light eye makeup? Looks great every time.
