Baby Skin Care: Little ones have extremely sensitive skin. As they get older, some tend to get less sensitive and others? It’s a constant concern. Today we’re talking about ways to treat rash prone skin with love and care!
Thank you to Skin Fix for collaborating on this post.
Lydia has VERY sensitive skin. It seems like absolutely everything causes a rash or skin irritation. We’ve gone through numerous lotions, diaper creams, bath gels, ointments……and after almost three years, we’ve got a regime down that helps keep most rashes at bay.
Baby Skin Care: 5 Simple Tips for Treating Rash Prone Skin
Avoid extreme temperatures when possible: Heat and cold tend to trigger rashes. For us? The change of seasons is the worst. We try to have treatment products on hand, and to keep Lydia’s skin clean and moisturized. This helps prevents rashes and chapping!
Pay attention to triggers: laundry detergent, pollen, dry air, humidity, dust…..all of these can cause rashes or skin outbreaks. For us? It’s dry or cold air. But we pay attention to when Lydia will be exposed to trigger, so that we can be prepared!
Practice Sun Safety: Little ones with sensitive skin can be triggered by sunburns. And a sunburn PLUS a rash? Horrible.
Shorten bath time: Soaking in a tub for extended periods of time can irritate rashes. Be sure to take a short bath, pat skin dry, and follow up with lotion. Use gentle products created for babies and toddlers: We are huge fans of Skin Fix’s line of kids products. Their Gentle Lotion was created specifically for sensitive, eczema prone children. It’s 98% natural and totally free of dye and fragrance. For sensitive little ones….this is HUGE. Who needs MORE irritants in their lotion? We use Gentle Lotion each night after bath time, and then treat with Skinfix Gentle Eczema Balm during flare ups. Mommy: / tank / shorts / sandals /
