When Lydia was really little, I loved reading about what a day looked like with a toddler. I couldn’t imagine what daily life would be like a year away from where we were. I loved seeing how other moms navigated days with their little ones……so, I thought I’d share what our day looks like.
Disclaimer: This is a typical WEEKEND. As a family with two working parents, our weekdays look a little different……but I am planning to share a weekday version of this post soon!
So, Lydia’s Typical Day (with a little help from our Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2)
6:00 am: Happy Saturday! The day I used to sleep in. These days? Not so much. Our little early bird is up and at em at 6 am EVERY single day. It’s a rarity for her to snooze until 6:30 or later. So, while I make myself the first of multiple cups of coffee……Lydia and I listen to her favorite songs and she dances around the kitchen.
6:45 am: Breakfast for us both. Eggs, fruit and pancakes. Lydia loves pancakes, so we try to make them for her every weekend morning. They’re a special treat, and we are working our way through different flavors….the last few weeks we’ve been making coconut pancakes. After breakfast, my husband leaves for work. He teaches lessons in his private studio every Saturday morning.
7:15 am: Mommy and me run. Before it gets too hot, or the day gets away from us. Lydia and I go for a 30 minute jog every Saturday morning. She listens to music, reads books, waves at everyone in our neighborhood and points out every single dog and I get some cardio in.
8:00 am: Getting ready for the day. Thank goodness for our playpen. On the weekends, we keep it close to our master bathroom so that I can shower quickly while Lydia reads books. I usually get a good twenty minutes before the books become projectiles. That’s enough time to shower and get ready, right?
9:00 am: Mom’s Walk and Park. Each Saturday a group of us meet at the park near our house. We walk around the lake (this is when Lydia eats her morning snack) and then the kid are released onto the play structure. It’s great for Lydia to be with other kids and she is just getting to the age where she can really enjoy a playground.
11:30 am: Lunch. Since starting my Toddler Meals series, I love trying out new recipes for Lydia’s lunches. We usually look for new ideas together while she eats…..it’s great to see what recipes spark her interest!12:30 pm: Nap time. Luckily, our toddler naps very consistently. She sleeps for 2-3 hours each afternoon. I use our Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 to track how long she’s been asleep and to watch her on our webcam baby monitor.
3:00 pm: Afternoon snack and stories. Lydia is almost always awake by 3 pm, so we get back up slowly by reading a few books and eating a small snack (crackers and cheese is her fav these days).3:30 pm: Backyard playtime. We are lucky to have a great backyard……every afternoon Lydia and I spend at least an hour out there. She plays on her swing set, we read books, and we use our Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 to practice new words. She’s currently obsessed with animals, so our animal sounds app is a huge hit. The new word of the week? Tiger!
5:00 pm: Indoor play. Lydia plays in her living room play area while I prepare dinner. Because we are still in the food throwing stage, and because Lydia goes to sleep fairly early…..she eats her dinner before my husband and I. So I prepare her food separately or prepare it all, and just reheat ours after her bedtime.
5:30 pm: Dinner time.
6:00 pm: Family walk. My husband is usually home from work by dinner time, so we go on a short walk around our neighborhood…….it’s great for Lydia to get a little more fresh air before bedtime.
6:40 pm: Bath time. Pajamas. Storytime. We love projecting stars on Lydia’s ceiling during her bedtime routine…….you should have seen her face the first time she saw them…..she was SO excited!
Phew……a long day, right? Lydia’s a busy girl…..but this is honestly my favorite age. She’s learning new skills at a rapid pace, and is very interested in new tools like our Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2. It has a super long battery life (15 hours, thank goodness)…..which is a total lifesaver. We’ve taken it on car trips, and Lydia loves seeing those animals when she gets sick of her car seat! Plus, that projector? It’s amazing! We’ve projected movies on our walls, and I can’t wait until Lydia gets old enough to have her friends over for movie nights. In fact, we are having a cartoon playdate this weekend……and we’ll be showing old Disney cartoons on the wall in our backyard during playtime.
Do you love seeing these Day in the Life posts as much as I do? Lenovo sent their products to a ton of tastemakers all over the country……and you can see their typical days profiled in Lenovo’s new Trend Hub!
